Player development WAY faster than past years
I've been experiencing A LOT of guys being called up to the majors in the same year they were drafted:
![]() Does anyone else experience this and is this intended? Almost no first rounders are in the minors for more than a year. |

Yes, I noticed last night. There were no decent prospects that had high potential but low current ratings. 19 and 20 year olds were already fully developed.

One thing I’ve noticed about generated drafted players is that many of them have elite speed and defense that max out very fast. |

I am noticing the same - it's more the speed/base running and the defense that seems to develop at an exponential rate.

To go the other way with it...speed and defense doesn't degrade as a player ages either. I see a lot of guys playing the field in to their 40s and still have high speed ratings well past 35.

For you guys who are seeing this, can you upload or post a link to the league files where you're seeing this, particularly with guys getting called up the same year they are drafted.
Also, what patch are you all on? The beta patch or an earlier one? And if you're on the beta patch, I'd that where you first saw this or has it been going on longer?

I have seen at least one guy that had no minor league service and I have seen 3 to 4 guys who spent about 13 games in A or A+ before being called up. I will have try to post later. I imported from 21 to 22 and kept going on my 21 save.

Edit: I picked 13th, and the pitcher I selected could start for me RIGHT NOW. And there were three better options than him that went off the board before I picked!

As I mentioned just now in the bugs forum, we're taking a long look at this and have already made some tweaks with likely more to come. So this should be much better balanced next patch.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just decided to look at the Prospect Pipeline in June of 2021.
FOURTEEN of the top 20 prospects are currently in the MLB. Since I can't filter, I would have to count the top 100 manually, but skimming through, I would say about half (at least) are in the majors. That's way too high. EDIT: Okay, so I decided to count. 45 of the top 100 prospects are in the majors. So not quite half. Last edited by slugga27; 04-23-2021 at 10:41 AM. |

I'm holding off on starting my next game until this gets fixed. Agreed that things need to be toned down, and I'm very happy that the Devs have noticed and are taking action!
Kudos to the dev team as always |

Yeah, in my fictional drafts, so many people that have 100 speed, 100 stealing, 100 base running, relief pitchers with 90-100 stam starting pitchers with 25-60 stam but then their batting and pitching skills are pure crap but they are potential 80 players.
I will have to wait for next year to see if I get the same results because I went through and took like 2 hours to make sense of the madness... I also had only like 8 people with 45+ for overall and then rest were all 20/80 then had a ton of 35/40's and even way do this load in potential they still had crazy maxed out speed and stuff but no hitting or pitching skills lol it was like all their ratings were based off their crazy defense skills, running skills, and maxed out stam. I thought I was the only person seeing really strange stuff in my draft. Guess not.

Well, I know it NEEDS to be fixed in the next patch. This is a game stopper for me. I'll continue to hold off on starting a saved game that matters to me until this is adjusted/corrected.
It's strange. After the initial release, there was a thread (in the bugs forum I think) about how players weren't developing yada, yada, yada. So when I started my first save, I bumped up player development to 1.150 based on that. Obviously that would just exascerbate the problem based on the examples posted in this thread. I have seen players with only A ball experience promoted to the MLB rosters early in 2021, so it's happening early as well as in subsequent seasons. I just find it mind-boggling that the two threads were polar opposites of one another. I know that in past versions of OOTP, a lot of us felt young players weren't developing quickly enough to reflect the realities of RL baseball in 2021, and that RL prospects today were a little more polished than the OOTP draft classes. So obviously the devs made adjustments in this area in this version and hopefully it's just a matter of toning them down to bring them closer to reality. Easy for me to say, though. I know nothing about programming. But one can hope. Last edited by Dave Stieb II; 04-25-2021 at 05:15 PM. |

I'm thinking I missed a patch where this issue crept in. I have my development speed at 3.000 for batters and 2.something for pitchers and see nothing like the kids people have posted in their drafts or them reaching the majors that quickly in like a dozen games. My experience is still more like the thread you're referencing. That tells me I missed something because obviously it's a wide spread issue - I guess for once missing a patch worked out. |
