The unsuccessful further development of the position indicator

In Franchise Hockey Manager 5 we had a round position indicator.
Now in FHM 7 this is a diamond.

Why was that changed?
What are, or should be, the advantages of a diamond?

I don't like the new position indicator, the diamond in FHM 7, at all.
It seems inappropriate - the puck is round and not square!

I haven't found anything, but I don't know exactly where to look either.

I hope that Jeff will follow my words: "the puck is round and not square!" and changes the indicator with the next patch/update.

This was changed in FHM 6 due to an issue.

Now our focus is on the new engine. I would not expect any further updates to the old engine.

I can't see any advantage - on the contrary!
This is not the end of the world now - but an unnecessary step backwards.
