Still No Sound -- Little Help?

I have version 5.10 and I still do not get interface or in-game sounds.

I am running Windows XP, have a SB Live 5.1 sound card and DirectX9.0a.

I've heard that some folks w/ SB cards have been able to get sounds using DirectX8.1 rather than 9.

Yes, they are turned on.

I actually had dx8 when ootp5 came out, and everyone was saying if you can't get sound, upgrade to 9, so I did.

So do you think it's a SB issue?

i have SB card also, my sound problem is with ingame sound.
After game is finished, and i exit OOTP, i cannot restart OOTP without reboting my computer, i have a ingame sound error.

Dont bother with DirectX, or SB drivers, or media player, none of that works. Its a OOTP game issue, and im also haveing a hard time getting answers.

Well, I wouldn't rule out the fact that some of "those things" might help someonelse, with all of the different possible configurations there is no telling what might be causing some of the issues.

Well, I don't want this to turn in to OOTP bashing. This isn't like 3do last year. It's a new feature that I can live without, but I've heard so many good things about the sound, and I just started managing games instead of simming, so I wish the sound was there.

I don't have sound problems with anything else. In fact, I'm a musician and am recording my album on my computer. My sound works fine. I would assume the problem lies in OOTP somewhere.

I really don't know where the problem is, that very well may be, but given the variety of computer configurations, drivers, etc then it is next to impossible for any company to promise that a certain feature such as sound will work on all systems.

Just my personal opinion, FOR ME...I hate game sounds and don't use them so it isn't an issue for me but I can understand folks who want that part of the program to work.

Sorry I can't give better news.

hi,i am having sound problems also.I lowered acceleration down in direct x. I have a generic sound card that came with computer.
Do i need a new ,improved,sound card?I had to turn off game sounds so the game would play.i dont need the sound to enjoy the game but would like to know how to fix it.

any suggestions?
