22.2.39 issues

After installing the update. I could not continue the current league. Had to restore back up. When starting a game (I play them out) I can not drag players from bench to linup. Is anyone else having issues, or is this in me?

Oh I just lost my entire game. I regret updating the game. That certainly has never happened to me after updating a game in all of the years I've been playing.

Worst part is that I couldn't even back up the game before I updated it. I went to do it after seeing this post too but the game wouldn't backup. So that's frustrating.

I just downloaded .39 but will not install it until Markus makes a comment about this.

Over 12 hours after this was reported we still haven't heard anything.

There's nothing wrong with the patch. A patch would never cause a corrupt save game. That's simply not possible.

If you do have a corrupt file, it's likely only coincidence even if you downloaded the patch recently.

One thing that could be more than coincidence, is if a new patch triggers an anti-virus or anti-malware program to scan the OOTP data folder, and it returns a false positive. So definitely make sure to whitelist/exclude OOTP and its data folders from any such programs as mentioned in the linked post on some reasons for corruption which are worth checking over.

Also, if you ever do have a corrupt save, you can also follow the steps below to restore from the backup copy the game automatically makes.

To restore from the automatic backup, do the following:

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings.

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

8) Now start the game and load your league.

This is what happened to me. The update didn't install after I downloaded it. I didn't know because when I rebooted the game I went to get a drink while the update installed. It wasn't until I rebooted it again after running into issues that it installed. So now the game says the file I was playing at is either an old version or it is corrupt. I've never downloaded an update and the game didn't install it when booted up.

Edit: I should add that I did what Lukas said and I got the game save back so in the end all is good.

I found my issue. All my game settings were changed to my bench coach. Changed back to me now I can make substitutions. I never have seen my settings changed so dramatically before. What does get changed once in a while is the Manager screen set up.

I checked to see if perhaps they were awarded but just not announced as a news story, but after checking all the obvious pitching and hitting candidates (who likely would have won), it's clear no one was awarded the major honors.

After installing this patch I kept getting could not be saved errors, did not save properly, cannot be loaded. and eventually I could not load the saved game. I had to uninstall (keeping league files) and remove from registry. Reinstalled. No problems (yet). Before reinstalling I whitelisted the .exe.

UPDATE!

LOL!!! It's baaaack.... Same save error popups, cannot load file etc. Screwed again. the recommendation is to reinstall the game. Have already done that. It's actually funny how the error message about not being able to load a file is given an exclamation mark! An error occurred while loading the database! Could not initialize sqlite database! mayday! mayday! And then a bunch of 'fixes' which immediately give 'did not work' messages. Anyway, contrary OOTP, this patch certainly made it unplayable for me. Well, I can play it. I just can't save or reload it.

and another thing...

Trying random things.. started a league from wizard... got sequence of could not load logo errors. sorry, make that.. could not load league logo! could not load team logo! errors. Game sat for a while mulling things over, then... crashed.
