minor league teams disapeared

i was in year 2022 and in the middle of my draft and went to check my rookie team roster....my a+, a, one azl rookie team, and one dominican rookie team were gone. when i went to the league page i was able to find my players but they were not affiliated with any team. there was an option to place them on current roster or release them but nothing else....when i went to into settings and went into that league..there were no teams listed at all...not sure if there is any way to fix this..i had not done any backing up. the players history had nothing about it. my transactions had nothing about it. they had played games right up until the day of the draft....its like the teams were somehow all deleted from the game.....

This can happen if the league file is corrupted somehow.

You may be able to restore from the autosave function. Instructions on doing that follow:

To restore from the automatic backup, do the following:

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

8) Now start the game and load your league.

was this a historical sim, with extra teams/leagues you created?
If so, the game will revert to "real" history after the season, deleting teams that were not there in the game historically at the end of the season. The only way around this is to uncheck the game to allow historical expansion. (not certain what it's called exactly, as i'm not at my game computer.)
if those teams that disappeared were not self-created - sorry, i've no idea. but something is definitely wrong if that's the case.

hmmm. seems the lukas solution came in while i was typing. it's probably the best way to proceed.

i have tried this and it does not work. this has now happened on multiple attempts to play the game....if i have a back up ..i can load that and it reverts to the date the back up was created ....but the teams are still missing. if i go into game settings using screen shots from a fresh start and manually fix everything..it will happen again within a few days. it has happened both when logging back in and just while playing and simming one day at a time. the most recent time all the teams that vanished had an id of 585 or higher..the teams with the lower id numbers were still there. the last time it happened it was teams with an id of 780 and higher. it has happened 5 times now and in june or july of 2022 each time except one time where it happened in june of 2023. 3 of the 5 times it happened during the 2022 draft. i do move up the draft one month from july to june each time i play so i can field my rookie league team with draftees instead of signing free agents. please advise..thank you

It sounds like something is regularly corrupting your league files.

For future reference, there are a few things that can cause corruption. This potentially includes unexpected system shutdowns or crashes especially while a league is saving, bad sectors on the hard drive the game is saved to, memory glitches on your computer (especially possible if the league is left open for very long periods of time without the game being shut down or restarted) or occasionally interference from other programs.

So it's impossible to say which of those issues caused the problem, but some of what you might do to prevent that from coming up again would be to regularly defrag your hard drive as well as check it for errors, make sure to occasionally shut your computer off or at least restart it and also run as few other programs in the background at the same time as OOTP as possible.

For programs that need to be running at the same time, like an anti-virus or firewall, it's a good idea to add OOTP to their whitelist and exclude OOTP and its data folders from any disk cleaners or similar programs. This is a pretty important step, as it's probably where 95% of the issues with league corruption come from. Basically, any programs that can change or delete files on their own, without asking you about it, you'll want to have them steer clear of any OOTP files and folders.
