AI putting 141 players into one rookie league team, leaving others empty

Hey,

I am a couple days out from the 2021 draft and got the "enable ghost players" message because of missing players in the rookie league teams. I am playing as the Pirates with their 1 GCL team and 2 DSL teams. As I'm still fairly new to the game I have the AI take care of Minor League demotions and promotions, outside of the 20 or so prospects that I control myself.

After the popup I looked at the team and discovered the AI had thrown 148 guys into the GCL team, left 11 in the DSL 1 team and not a single player in the DSL 2 team. Having the AI reshuffle the organization did not change anything either. I rearranged, but on continuing the game, the AI changes it back to the overstacked GCL team.

I've searched the forums and read about enabling ghost players, roster size limits etc, and I might have missed a setting, but to me this seems like a bug more than anything else? Has anyone else ran into this issue and knows what's going on?

some people don't like this but I have roster limits. Set your rookie leagues to 40 maybe 50 to be safe and the AI will be forced to move or cut the extra baggage.

It's weird tho, I played through a couple seasons a few months ago (in OOTP21, ofc) and this never happened.

There are limits to the DSL teams based on nationality. So American players f.e. are not eligible to play there and you'd need to have enough qualifying players to fill out their rosters. So if you have a surplus of American players in the system, they'll all go to the lowest level team they're eligible for, which is the GCL team.

You probably need to release some Americans and sign some more DSL eligible players.

My knowledge on baseball is not deep enough that I know what constitutes a half season, but they all have scheduled games from June through August.

Yeah, that's where this doesn't make sense at all. The AI has sent both American and DSL eligible players to the now 148-man GCL team, except for the 11 guys in the DSL1 team, who are all American, which really makes no sense.

I ran an unemployed save up until the same point in time and the AI GM had balanced all the teams perfectly in that one. I'm gonna run a couple more test games and see if this was a one-off issue and just start over if it is.

Seems to have been sorted, not been able to recreate the issue. There was a patch too, so might have been in there somewhere.

Glad it's working better now. Not sure if there was anything for this in the patch or not.

Well, it happened again in my redo of the save. Every team in the whole league has thrown every player into their GCL teams, except for about 8-10 Americans that each team have put in their DSL-teams.

I'd love to send you the files, what specifically do you need and how do you want me to send them?

We'd need all (17 or so iirc) the files that end in .dat in your folder for this league in the saved_games folder

You can either upload them directly to us as per my sig or just put them up on Dropbox/Google Drive and post a link. Whatever is easiest for you.

Thank you for having a look. As mentioned earlier, it doesn't happen every time, as my test saves could not recreate it. Of course it then happens when I put time into a new save. I wouldn't be too surprised if there is something I'm doing wrong somewhere.
