Trade Offers Frustrations
I still get way too many idiotic offers from other teams.
35 year old relief pitcher rated at 45 from another team, asking for my 24 year old #3 prospect rated at 60 potential, It aggravates me to even get those types of offers.

I had issues in 21 as well.
They wanted my 3.5 star SS in AAA and offered me a 0.5 star catcher. This happened a lot to me near the trade deadline. |

My 13-year old son played and while he liked it, he got frustrated that he was able to scoop up star players from other teams quite easily, found that very unrealistic, and quit playing.

He just needs to set the trading slider to the hardest setting and his trades will become much more difficult to make. Although there is a way to get around that too if you work at it... |

I find this is easily remedied by not executing any trades you KNOW to be unrealistic. There are plenty of times where I'm browsing the trading block results and I refuse to make a trade I'd like to because I don't feel like the team would realistically give them up--especially if they are contending for the postseason at the time.

Is Shop Player still a consistent way to rip off the AI? I have the trading difficulty one notch above the middle setting and that seems to be OK more the small number of manual trades I tried. I shopped a 27 year old AAA reliever with:
Stuff 35/40 Movement 45/45 Control 45 / 50 Basically he shouldn't ever be in the ML, except maybe as an emergency call up if you get hit with injuries. In my 1978 historical league with scouting on, player development on and recalc off, I shop him and I can pick up George Scott, Mark Belanger, or Ralph Garr. Now, none of these players are at their peak and I wouldn't want them as my regular starter, but are head and shoulders above the player I'm shopping. There are some other decent players available too. I guess they can be trying to dump contracts as some are making decent money, but there are others making < $100K. |

Hey Guys,
I haven't played my franchise mode in OOTP22 yet. Waiting for the next update, so all of this is from OOTP 21 and prior. Just some thoughts on this: *I wouldn't use the "Stars"; it seems to either be a handicap for the Human player or they seem to be off at times (Can the two exist together?....apparently, I know I had a much easier time when I used them). *The AI GM's will throw things against the wall - I heard that happens in-real-life as well. You never know, and at least it might start a conversation about something-else. *You can't always be sure how the other GM's and Scouts view the trade in terms of the player value. Sometimes, yea it is 100% off. *As to that shop player, yes, I am rather sure the AI will at times attempt to salary-dump. -Cal |

Anyways, to your particular example...let's not forget the Red Sox once traded a young Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson. The rest is history. |
