Minor league schedules

I noticed that minor league schedules were pushed to May because they were pushed out in real life. My question is...will they revert to an April start date in future seasons?

I just simmed through to 2022. The answer is no, it doesn't revert to how it was pre-Pandemic. This can certainly be manually changed, but the question is...when is the best time to make this change? Pre-season?

Easy fix, you can do what I do, just set the start date earlier from the League Setting screen and generate a new schedule.

You can also pull the 2021 schedules from the schedules folder.
Open each one in notepad or any text editor and change the settings in the element line.
It's the second line in all schedules.
Change the start day of week to 5 (Thursday)
Change the start month from 5 to 4 and the start day to 7.
Save the schedule as and change the year to 2022.
Now in 2022 your lgs should start on Thursday April 7th and you won't have to worry about remembering to set things up on the league setting\options page.

Thanks but this actual pisses me off. I shouldn't have to do all those steps for the game to function.

You don't. You can go to the League Settings, change the start date, regenerate the schedule. Takes 10 seconds.

I'm confused by this statement. You want OOTP to automatically generate the correct 2022 minor-league schedules when you advance your current league into the future? How do you expect the game to do that? The 2022 schedules don't exist. If you advance your current league into the future, then, at that point, you're playing a fictional league. By necessity, you need to do things with fictional leagues that the game will automatically do for current or historical leagues. Them's the breaks. In short, the game is functioning just fine.

Quick question. I'm in league settings, but I don't see anywhere that it allows me to change the league start date for the minor leagues. Can you point me in the right direction?

I think it's under Rules.

Make sure you have the minor league in question selected in the pull down menu.

It's in the options menu not rules menu.

One more 2021 scheduling thought...

The day of the draft has moved back - people will likely want to postpone the start dates of the GCL and AZL until after that point. (I chose a week later.)

(One other note on the draft - it will only be 20 rounds going forward. I set my draft here to match that, while still generating 35 rounds worth of people - figuring that some of the overflow can go to the indy leagues that now have more teams than before.)

I set the draft date to the usual June 6. The short season leagues (which I rebuilt) and Rookie leagues start a few weeks later as in the past. I haven't decided on the number of rounds, but it'll be more than 20.

I did something similar.

Draft for 2021 is All Star Weekend, 20 rounds with 35 generated. Rookie Leagues start 2 weeks later on the 26th. Each organization gets only one domestic rookie league team, so the AZL and GCL have only 15 teams each. I made AZL and GCL series' only 1 game to resemble a Spring Training-like atmosphere. Arizona Fall League starts October 11th.

If the seasons start in May, does anyone know if this impacts your AAA players ratings/development for the first month? If I keep down my stud (Kelenic) for the first month, does that really benefit him since he isn't playing?

No effect at all. I forget to reset the start date for the PCL (I have three AAA leagues as I added the American Association so the International League wouldn't be so large) and it had no effect on development whatsoever.

Hopefully, they will provide a no-pandemic option in the first patch. Being reminded of the pandemic in a game is just plain stupid and inconsiderate of OOTP Developments. Even if it takes only 10 seconds to fix, I should not have to spend that 10 seconds. And it only takes 10 seconds if you know what you are doing under the hood.

Thankfully I remembered to switch back to the usual draft date and AAA season start dates after my first season.

While I appreciate them making it as close to real life as possible, this probably would have been one of those things that would have been better off not being implementing from the real world. It's not like there is the "alternate site" in game, so it's not even fully accurate and my minor leaguers are presumably just sitting at home and chilling for a month in game.
