Possible bug with AI starting rotation?

Hey guys, love the game. I am not really one who reports bugs often, so forgive me if I get something wrong.

I just started my 2nd game of the season with the Blue Jays against the Yanks. Game 1 went to extras and they used RP Darren O'Day for 1.2 innings in extras and we scored 2 runs off him and won the game. (Exciting stuff!) Now in game 2, the Yankees started...RP Darren O'Day. Interestingly, he didn't seem gassed from the night before. But he def got gassed early on and was rotated out after 2 innings. The brought in Jameson Taillon who might be their 2nd starter in the rotation but I am not sure.

Just figured I would bring it up since I know we are still in Beta and its possible this is a bug.

Seems like they may have used O'Day as an opener in that 2nd game. Was Taillon in their rotation?

So...after googling "what is an opener in baseball" I believe you are probably right lol and that is my mistake. After looking more into it as well, there was a day off in between games. I have been a fan of baseball for quite a while but somehow the concept of "opener" never reached my brain. Thanks for clearing it up, and this is why I usually don't post bug reports :P

I always set the use of openers to NEVER on the stats and AI tab in game settings.
I know they're a part of baseball now but I have no use for them. And I don't think the AI handles them very well.
Taillon is just not the sort of SP I'd expect to see as a "follower" IRL. At least not in his first appearance with a new team. I think it's a concept that is very difficult for the AI to "get right".
Just thought I'd mention it as an option.
In my world, starters start, relievers relieve and swingmen....well, swing I guess.

Yeah that has always been my idea of pitchers as well. Ive played a reasonable amount off OOTP from 18 on and never noticed something like this before. I think what made it really seem buggy was that it was the last reliever I faced in the previous game. It felt like maybe he was stuck there or something lol. All good though, just means I haven't found a real problem to complain about yet which is good news!
