My God, why can't I just delete fictional players from my custom league and create my own players?

Or can I? PLEASE...somebody point the way for me. This game...equal parts brilliant and frustrating. I just want to create players on blank (i.e. empty roster) teams. Why is this made so difficult?

You'd have to retire them individually, or one team's worth of players at a time (via the Retire Players button on the team edit screen.) You can create or import new players from the League Edit screen.
