Post Trouble with 3D or FaceGen? See here!

OOTP utilizes some advanced OpenGL features now, which may be problematic on a small number of systems. So, in order to fix the problems we need your help.

But first, please make sure you install the latest version of drivers for your graphics card! Often outdated drivers are the reason for 3D / Facegen problems.

OOTP needs at least support for OpenGL 2.0. This is supported by most graphic cards with up-to-date drivers.

We suggest playing around with the OpenGL settings (Game Settings -> Facegen & 3D tab), you could try setting the "Open GL Shader Mode" to "Disable OpenGL shader" for example.

If you are on a Mac and the 3D display (in-game or opening PT packs) is only a quarter of the screen, please run the game in low DPI mode, see the second post here.

If it still does not work, we need to know your exact system specs which can be found in an OOTP debug log file if you can provide that for us. Please follow the directions here and post the resulting file for us to check over.

Thank you!
Markus

For those having display issues on a Mac, please try this:

1. Go to wherever the app is located, most likely in the Applications folder.
2. Right-click on the app that you would like to open in low resolution mode, and select “Get Info” to bring forth the information dialog box for the app.
3. When the Get Info dialog box opens, you should see an option that says “Open in Low Resolution.” What you need to do here is checkmark the box next to the option.
4. Close the Get Info dialog box after you have checked the option.
5. Now, double-click on the app to launch it

This fix works perfectly on Mac OS 11.2 (iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017))

Not sure if this is a 3D issue, but it happened to me in 3D mode. The colors on the on-field graphics are reversed on the player name label for the first batter of each half-inning. Was playing a game with the Mariners at the A’s and during the first at-bat of each inning, the Mariners players had green behind their names and the A’s had blue. After the at-bat completed, the colors corrected.

Hey, when designing my stadium in 3D, resizing the window (I am not playing full screen) obliterates the stadium view (it is just...gone) and never comes back. I have to exit the Stadium Edit functionality and return to start again.

Also, the fonts on the drop down boxes for the options are NOT scaled to the size of the drop downs themselves, they are way too big to fit all the letters in there.

The first step would be to try updating your video card drivers (or the OS on a Mac) but if that doesn't work, then please let us know so we can look into it further.

Hey Lukas...

I am running on a PC with an RX 480 (16GB) and updated yesterday, brother, so it isn’t that, I don’t think.

I don't have that option in "Get Info" running macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6. Apparently that left that out as an option on recent updates. Do you know how to otherwise set it to open in low resolution? Not finding a good answer elsewhere.

At the main menu settings I went to change the 3D crowd settings quality and I could set it (to highest).
Playing in-game the change did not take.

Also, the frame rate change didn't save either. I would change it and it would take but when I would exit the game and go back in it would be set to 45 .

Great job by the way.

I'm quite sure you can access Get info in OS 10. Go into your applications folder and find the OOTP 22 application. Click on it once, then go to the top menu on your iMac and under File, select Get info (or just type command-i). Once the Get info window opens, you should see the option to open in low resolution. Click the box. Now, I admit that I've seen that only now that I am in OS 11 (Big Sur), so maybe in OS 10, the low res. option does not exist. Not sure. But I think you'll need to update to OS 11 anyway to get 3D to work properly. When I tried OOTP 22 while under OS 10, it was very choppy and not useable. Once I updated to OS 11, it was great.

Can confirm this is an issue. It resets to 45 upon exiting the game. Windows version.

UPDATE: Sorry, scratch that. This appears to be working in the new version released. Thanks!

Player Facegens displaying wrong team

Thus far I have only gotten to play a few exhibition games and when I played the 75 Red Sox against the 75 Reds, there were multiple players on both teams that were in completely different uniforms.

Examples: Rice and Tiant in Dodger uniforms and Nolan and Concepcion in Athletics uniforms.

Hopefully a fix for this is coming down the road and folks won't be forced to update to OS11 as well. I'm sure that's not the best option for many people.

(Steam OOTP 22): Detailed audience animations not working

In game settings: I've set AUDIENCE DETAIL to DETAILED, I've set AUDIENCE QUALITY to EXTRA HIGH, and I've set AUDIENCE ANIMATION to EXTRA HIGH. I've reset the game, re-started the game with new settings, and no matter where I play or what teams, or whether I start a new game or not: no audience animation at all from any angle, and audience details SEEM "low" to me. I've got all OOTP grfx settings set to max details (where applicable), and running fullscreen on a standard 1920x1080 monitor; Win 10. All updated, latest drivers.
Running the game on a new desktop PC (w/ the Steam version of OOTP22).
My Specs:
--Running Windows 10 Home 64bit (WIN 10 fully updated) on a Dell Inspiron 5090 desktop PC.
Intel Core i7-9700 CUP@ 3.00 GHz [8-Core/8-Thread 12M Cache, 4.7GHz Processor w/ Intel Turbo Boost Technology]. 16 GB memory.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 and NVIDIA High Def audio. All completely updated w/ latest drivers and Win 10 updates. Running game at 1920X1080 on standard monitor.
--------so, why no audience animations or high details? FWIW, the ballparks and players themselves look MUCH improved, though.

There's no animation with the new parks, it was an unfortunate side effect of moving to the improved models. We're looking into ways to make this work though but it will take some time.

OK, I didn't realize that. Thanks for quick reply. I thought it was my settings "not taking". Please let us know if and when this is worked out. AS noted: I was surprised by how GREAT the new animations. camera angle-cutting during gameplay, the new stadiums, the updated player modeling etc all look. Except for no audience animation, everything looks fantastic and I"m diving right into it!

The 3D option isn't running smoothly on my PC (I tried playing with a few settings with no success.) My current video card is AMD Radeon R7 Graphics, drivers are updated. I attempted to run the debug as directed and was able to do so, but can't get the files over through the FTP link provided. Any help from here would be greatly appreciated!
