Editing/adding highschools and universities
I created a fictional Canadian Baseball league, and I set up the draft to generate Canadian high school and University players. However the schools these players come from is quite limited i find. I have 90% of my university prospects from British Columbia.
I found the "schools" document in the database folder, went in and saw that yes Canadian schools are indeed very limited... esp. university. I tried then to add some schools to the list for my game. Universities of Alberta, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, ect and some Canadian high schools as well, such as one from my home town... where I graduated from. Figured it would be cool to someday see a draft prospect come from my school. What I did was copied the university of British Columbia, pasted it on the bottom of the list, and just edited what needed to be edited. This is how it looked. 19939,1,Alberta,Edmonton,AB,36,53.3147,-113.361,1,5,NAIA,Independent,Golden Bears, eol However in game when I go the edit screen for my draft prospects, I can edit things like high school and commit school. If I put in 19939 for Alberta, the game doesn't recognize it, or any other of the schools I added. Is there anyway to fix this, or can new schools not be added using this method? |

After you've made changes to school.txt, or any other data files (names, world.xml, etc.), you have to re-import the files into the game. What you want to do is go to Game Settings>Database>Database Tools and select the proper tool. Your changes should show up after you've run that. HTH.

This might help.
Click on game and at the bottom, click on Game settings. Then when in there click on Database. Now over on the right, under CONTINUE button there is Database Tools. Click on that and a drop down menu shows up. Now click on "Re-import school database" As long as you did everything right and didn't mess the database up, it should work and your schools should show up. Just as long as your number was not used, your school should show up when you type it in. |

Hard to know without seeing your file if you've done something wrong, but if you do it correctly this shouldn't happen.

Just a note, besides BC in the NAIA, there are about 30 Canadian universities that sponsor baseball, there's 13 USport teams (Quebec), and 17 CIS teams in Ontario. I think I have that division correct. Been a while since I looked.
There are also a handful of high schools that sponsor baseball, as well. You can find them listed on fieldlever.com, listed by province.

It won't let me take a screenshot with the menu pulled up, but:
Go to Game > Game Settings > Database, click on the Database Tools in the upper right and then reimport school database. |
