Just noticed ladder style playoffs!

absolutely love them. Korea uses them and they add so much flexibility to what playoffs look like...now have a league setup where 6th plays 5th, winner of that series plays 4th, winner of that series plays 3rd, winner of that series plays 2nd and winner of that plays 1st!

didn't notice this until now, really cool!

I love them! I use them in a couple of my single-division tournaments.

It's an excellent way to put more teams in the playoffs without diminishing the regular season. A good real-life example is the Canadian Football League. Six out of nine teams make the playoffs, but the first-place team in each division gets a bye and home-field advantage. It needs one playoff win at home to reach the Grey Cup. First place matters a lot.
