Question 2020 Live Strasburg getting shelled

I'm playing my fourth season of PT overall, first season at the Bronze level after winning my Iron level series last season. I've really gotten addicted to this game and am trying to understand more about how it works. I'm particularly vexed by the 2020 Live Strasburg card. I've owned this 2020 Live Strasburg card multiple times over the past four seasons and he's always gotten shelled.

My rotation consists of a 99 rated 2020 Live Scherzer/SE 2004 Randy Johnson/AT Legend 1974 Andy Messersmith/SE 1983 Steve Carlton and Strasburg.

Right now, he's 1-5 32 IP 8.16 ERA. Obviously, his stuff rating of 95 isn't doing much for me.

It seems like a pitcher's movement rating (Strasburg's is a 63) is really important, correct? As a baseball fan, that would make sense to me because even if you throw 100 mph heat, if it's straight eventually MLB hitters are going to catch up to it.

I've read that the Live card ratings will fluctuate during the season, but the 2020 season's long over. However, is the performance of Strasburg's card impacted by the fact he got shut down with an injury last season?

Most live cards will get shelled as you rise through the league levels, there's nothing unique about Strasburg.

The movement rating is basically the "homer prevention" skill in the game engine. So most live pitchers have very low ratings due to how prevalent homers are in modern baseball.

When you combine low movement ratings with the best hitters in baseball history, it just doesn't tend to go well for the modern pitchers.

And the live card ratings get frozen when a player is injured, so no that is not the reason.

Thanks! I definitely didn't know that about Live cards. That explains why my Scherzer card's also gotten shelled his last 2-3 outings. Time to auction them both off.

Strasburg, in addition to Kershaw and Syndergaard are almost never any good for me. Never had Scherzer but the fact he's so readily available tells me he's much the same.

Look into some of the better all time legend diamond pitchers. You can get a lot of them in the 15-25k range now if you're patient enough. Focus your eyes on control and movement, as once you get higher up you want those instead of overpowering stuff (and not much else).
