Is it possible to delete a minor team or league without releasing the players from the organization
I want to cut down on minor leagues in a Standard MLB start but I don't want the players in those leagues to automatically be released by the organization. I want them to decide who to cut after the trimdown. Is this possible without manually promoting all players to levels that won't be deleted?

I think the answer is clearly that you need to move the players.

No, not possible. As rich said, you have to move the players

You can mass select all players on a team... .and then just drag that group into another team in your system... should take longer to navigate between parent organizations than to actually move the players.
After you move the players, then you can delete the league(s) in question, but if you forget to move players, they will become free agents when the league is deleted. |

You could also do this - go to the rules for the league you wish to delete and set the roster limit to 1.
Sim one day, let/force the AI to make it's own decisions as to who to keep/cut. You then have only player on each team in the league to move. You may also want to increase the roster size limit of the next higher level to give the AI some leeway. |

Won't the players be released immediately upon setting the roster to 1.

Also, I'm almost certain that roster size limits aren't enforced during the offseason. I know I've removed players from the injured list when the offseason hits and that has put me over the roster limit for a minor league team and I do not get a message telling me I'm over the limit at any point during the offseason. |

Then it will release players from other levels which could be disastrous for those teams.

Not necessarily, as long as there isn't a roster limit. Eventually players will get released, but there's probably a way to accomplish it so there isn't a sudden influx of valuable players in free agency.

You can also mass select all the players in the league and promote them to a level that isn't being deleted. I usually promote everyone from the Rookie and Short Season leagues to a full season Single A team and then start cleaning up or deleting the Rookie/Short-Season A teams.
