Since the vast majority of my time is spent playing fictional, my suggestions tend to be slighted towards those options.

Customizable profile box- This would be little areas to flesh out the background or add special interest information. Ideally it would be something that would have the option for the computer to fill in for individuals but something you can add to . It would have on and off the field type tidbits.

Base coaches with ratings,
Color commentary- perhaps shaded a different color than the play by play person.

local affiliates mentioned in stories or broadcasts- The broadcast could have text that says Hello again from ----- Stadium, This is ---- along side ----- . Recently the ----- newspaper mentioned that ---- has been on the hot seat .

more options for the build a stadium- especially more that approximate older ballparks.

Coaches already have ratings, but you have to go commish to see them. Are you referring to something similar to that?

Color commentary that is interesting and not repetitive would be very difficult to code in, I'd have to think.
