New Leagues

This is not in referrence to any particualr league, but how many new leagues started with v5? Id say there are probably at least 30 of them. How many of them will survive more than 2 seasons??

I dont think there will be many. It takes oodles of time to run a league, and especially commishes that just bought v5 and never owned a previous version. It will take alot of your free time away. So if you arent really committed then dont start a league.

My guess is closer to 10-15 new leagues with v5.
True, many will not see Season 2 or 3 (some have already folded) but that is nothing new with v5. We saw it with v4. I didn't keep track of much during OOTP3 so I can't speak for that.

The good news is, many of the ones that have started recently seem to be well thought out and have a good plan in place with a Commissioner that seems to have a clear vision of what he wants his league to be and how to get there. Several of the first few v5 leagues that I saw start up did not have this (or at least it was not obvious to me).

You may be right, but I think this flood for v5 was much higher than the flood for v4, although I could be wrong.

I just dont want to see established leagues struggle for owners and new leagues with a solid plan and a solid commish fall by the wayside because owners are "leagued" out.

I'm betting that only 4 or 5 may make it past 2 seasons. The rest will get bored and wait until the end of the season to start a new one.

I think that most of them will end up folding I had a great idea for starting a regular standard league. But after seeing how many new standard league are coming out each day I said forget it. SO I have an idea for a league which is differnt in that owners play all there home games. I haven't seen any of these league in OOTP before (I might be wrong) There were alot of very succesful hands on leagues in DMB so we will see what kind of respone I get form the board Also if anyone knows of any ootp hands on leagues please let me know

I also thought about this, but its too easy to cheat. Owners can play over and over until they win.

Your both right about that and there is really nothing that you can do to prevent it it was the same thing with DMB baseball. Like I said I just to see what the feedback was form the board.

But I played DMB for three years and had been in several hands on Leagues And that never really became an issue O well it's just another one of my bad ideas LOL

....and tusso's league will not be one of them

I do think that my leauge the 05B will last longer than 2 years easily. I like to think that it is one of the best new v5 leagues overall(site,gm's,etc....)

It's not a bad idea at all. You just have to track trends, and find owners you can trust (not a hard thing to do here...this forum does a very good job of communicating to other commishes about cheaters that get outed).

see thats the problem. No one wants anymore leagues, and there are bundles of them out here right now.

On second thought, this would be very competitive. All 30 teams would finish 81-81. It would be one hell of a tie-breaker.

I think the huge amount of new leagues reflect: (1) the increasing success of OOTP in general, and (2) the excellent work the programmers did to make it a good online experience. The generated reports are really nice.

I think it is not necess. a bad thing all those leagues started. It is a natural selection process, only a couple will survive.

Having said that, it would be great if www.ootp-leagues.com gets updated, there are some leagues that are out of business.
