Computer Manager falling down on the job - anything to be done?
Hi, there.
Happy Holidays, everyone. Wondering if anyone would have insights about a really poor managing decision by the computer manager in a game I played. Replay of 1980 opening day, Expos at Phillies. Bottom of the eighth with two outs, with Philly down 1-0, Steve Carlton (the pitcher's) spot came up. Didn't pitch hit, and Carlton quickly made the third out. And then before Carlton could take the mound for the top of the ninth, the CM replaced him. If you're not going to have him pitch in the ninth, why not pinch him for him in the eighth? A real-life manager could get fired for that kind of bungle! ![]() Is there some kind of setting that could change that kind of behaviour? Thanks, BB Last edited by BlueBird; 12-25-2020 at 07:24 PM. |

You can do the same thing. The tiredness meter can't be seen unless Carlton is pitching. (At least I haven't found a way to see it when my team is batting.) So, just like a human Manager, Carlton and the Manager didn't realize how tired he was until he took his warmup tosses in the 9th.

If he has already pitched 8 innings and you are down by 1 run letting him hit should get the manager fired.
