Split Squad Spring Training Games

Would be great if we could easily make split squad spring training games or if they were automatically scheduled. Does anyone know if we can currently do this manually, or will it mess up our league if we schedule games by hand after the spring training schedule has been generated.

Perhaps one of the missing items that is most needed, if we are trying to replicate real life MLB. It is impossible to get enough IP or AB's when you invite 55-60 players to camp. I sim my spring training games, and it typically is your starters getting 50% of the playing time and the next best players getting the other 50%. Some guys invited to camp don't even get into a game, which is not realistic.

I'm sure we can manually schedule split squad games (???), but the option to click a box and have them scheduled for us would be convenient.

I think it would be cool to be able to end spring training games in ties or early spring training games end after 6 or 7 innings.

This is the biggest item on my personal wish-list. All of Spring Training needs to be fleshed out. Playing time for players, split-squad, games ending in ties, Minor League Spring Training, etc.

This needs to happen in 25. Improved spring training, Split squad at the very least.

Since we are talking about ST improvements...the ability to set a pitching schedule for the day would be nice too. A bit on the micro-managing side but I'd like to designate the 7-8 arms I want throwing that day. Be able to set max number of pitches or innings as well. This type of config may be helpful to replicate bullpen games during the regular season as well.

Allow for fully customizable spring training schedules, including the option to specify a park for that game. Users could then create and import a spring training schedule tailored to their preferences and needs.

One could even have historical spring training schedules for historical leagues (with some limitations as older spring training schedules featured major league squads playing minor league squads which is probably not replicable in OOTP at present).

I’d love to see all of this including grapefruit and cactus leagues, but in all honesty I’m not getting my hopes up any longer. I know this has been one of the most requested features for over a decade…but recently though…the development focus really appears to be on the simulation engine above all else.

OOTP is pretty much a great baseball simulator with some front office mechanics built in…but it doesn’t seem to really want to go heavy in that direction.

Assuming they don’t touch spring training in 25. Is there a way to add more games to ST in 24?

Pretty sure you can adjust the start date and length of spring training, but I'm not 100% sure you can do it for the initial season (since that one starts like 2 days prior to Opening Day).

From a personal standpoint, I definitely agree with wanting to see more improvements to spring training...split-squad would be so much easier to set up.

Would also like to see an option to have the owner periodically agree to construct a new stadium in the same city or expand the stadium in the current city if fan interest gets high and attendance numbers / team's local popularity would call for it.

Better college tie-in / interface. CAN I set up my own league with 300+ teams (a la the NCAA Div I)? Sure...as long as my machine won't die trying to run it. But man, setting up a playoff a la how the actual playoffs are done at the end of the regular season and conference tournaments is a PITA (if it's even possible to update the league schedule during a season), since I'd have to manually create all the regional matchups, pair up the regionals for super regionals and create games for those, and then create the CWS bracket (can't have OOTP create the CWS double-elimination bracket, because it can't be modified to only use the winners surviving from the manually created tournament).

you can already do this. schedule two games for your team manually and just ensure the spring training roster is large enough to accommodate split squads. the game trying to program it wouldn't make any real sense, it's only because you want to get more guys reps, but you can already do this status quo without much of an issue. i never thought about this until now.

There's no real game value to this, really. Like it's something you can do and I appreciate people's desire for immersion, but you could do this as a storyline and do it all manually.
