Only 4 players available in draft pool - Historical Mode

Have come across a problem in my Historical save. Started in 1917 and have it set for people to random debut. Started out working well and then in 1924 I started to notice that the draft pool seemed to be smaller. Did the draft anyways and finished the season. On to 1925 and now the draft pool is only 4 players. I reset the filters for the draft so it's not only 4 players because of a filter or anything. Anyone else having this problem in Historical random debut leagues??

I'm getting normal-sized draft pools when I try it. Had you made any changes to the league structure, and were you playing in the NHL or WCHL?

I am playing historical mode, 1917 start in the NHL. I have made no changes to league structure. I have made it so it is random debut and also all new players go straight to the draft. The drafting worked fine and there were players in the draft pool up until 1924 when there were fewer players in the pool but still enough players for a draft. However in the 1925 draft my draft pool is only 4 players

I believe it may have something to do with the last couple of years more teams have expanded into the league. I believe 1924 had 4 teams and now 1925 has 7 teams. Maybe when a old historical league, with random debut, expands teams there could be something wrong with the amount of players being available for the draft.

I finished the draft with only 4 players being taken in the draft and then simulated till the preseason to see if the CPU will fill the Pittsburgh Pirates team and the team only had 2 players on the roster. I simmed a preseason game vs the Pirates and it looks as though it filled out their roster with a bunch of .5 star players so at least now the roster is full.

Yeah, could be an issue with expanding in a RD league, although even in that case I'd expect a normal-sized pool stretched across more teams, not the pool shrinking to 4. I'll try a few different things and see if I can get it to happen here.

Thank you for the quick replies as always. I finished the 1925 season to see what would happen with the draft pool in 1926. The league expanded by 3 teams and I checked the draft pool and once again it only has 4 players.

I simmed through the 1927 season. The draft pool now has 10 players. No teams are added or subtracted in this season.

Also I am not sure if it matters but the league was also a fantasy draft to start in 1917 also with the before mentioned random debuts

Nope, started with a draft and I still get the normal-sized draft classes. Can you upload that save (see the instructions in the first post)? I'd like to have a look and see if we can tell exactly what's going wrong.

Malte found the problem: apparently "Save as" wasn't copying the random debut database properly; I'm surprised no one had run into that bug earlier, since it doesn't look like it was a new thing. It can be fixed easily enough, just copy the random_debut_qs folder from the original version of the save to the Historical Fun - test3.lg folder. The drafts will go back to normal after you do that, but the guys who would've been drafted in the prior 3-4 years will never appear in the game.

Thank you for all of the help with this. If the moment that I did the save as changed that save for the worse what I am going to do is go back to the old save and continue where it left off in 1923 and go from there so I can get those lost 3 to 4 years of players. Thank you so much for all of your help
