Jacob Degrom problem.

so in my Mets League i just got through 2022. I did well in 2020 and 2021 -- made postseason both years and won the division in the 2021. But late in 2021 Degrom who was a big part of the success sustained a major elbow injury and after months out and a rehab he is now a Potential 20 / Overall 20 with a $33 million contract next year (and a team option for the following year, i dont need advice on that thank you very much). Is there anything I can do other than eat this? Thanks

You can offer him plus some hot prospects to a rich team and see whether it will take him off your hands.

IRL you would probably have insurance against this kind of mishap. In OOTP you have to suffer.

Trade him with your best prospect (or any other valuable player) so the other team is more willing to take on salary. They are willing to pay money to get the prospect

I am curious in how far his serious but not career ending injury could have
changed his actual output now that he is recovered. Could it be the case that it is a scouting issue? I would keep him and slowly bring him back.
You might extend his contract for significantly less money and he could bounce back....maybe

In my league he pitches for the Angels now, but hasn't been the same since he tore his elbow flexor tendon couple years ago. Right now he is rocking a 6.38 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. I would trade him right now. In this game pitchers don't seem to "bounce back" from these major injuries. They just keep getting hurt. I look at his injury history here and since the injury he's had 6 more minor injuries and 2 other small stints on the DL.
