Scouting Director won’t sign extension

I’m in my 5th season (2024) with Cleveland and Scouting Director John Mozeliak won’t sign an extension with me. Does your record have anything to do with this? I had 3 playoff seasons but just had a rebuild season where we came in last but this year I should compete for the playoffs again (much better team and I’m in 1st after the first 2 weeks).

Would he change his mind if we win this year or does that have nothing to do with it?

IMO I think that the biggest factor is a bit of a built in handicap. Successful human franchises face a built in handicap retaining personnel and players as a "leveling" of the field for the AI. I want to say this was stated by Marcus several versions ago. Maybe 15 or 16?

Also the AI is assisted by not being penalized for releasing players with money being owed. Thats why I am quick to shy away from bidding wars against the AI.

Glad to hear there's help for AI. This is the first I've heard it mentioned.

I think there should be a switch help, extra help, super help or something similar.

Sometimes a scouting director will aspire to bigger things. So quite possible that he wants to go be a GM for someone.

In all honestly OOTP has so many moving parts I dont mind the AI having the help. The other way you can help the AI is to set your game to handicap you. You can do this by hiding ratings, making trading harder, editing your market size and fan interest. Just make sure to set it back to where it should be once you get fired.

Dont get me wrong. I have seen the game, and the AI, grow and evolve since 3. It is leaps and bounds better than 3 ever dreamed of. I just dont see the AI making any leaps forward. Baseball isnt a chess board with defined spaces and defined playing pieces. Then throw in all the chaos that the human brain brings to the game and its a bit of a miracle the AI works as good as it does.

This is quickly veering off topic, so my apologies the OP.
