updated ratings bars (Classic Skin)
Subtle change, but added a wood grain to the color rating bars. Here are some samples showing a few colors along with how it looks when you are displaying both Current and Potential ratings. Zip file contains all 20 bars. Drop them into your images folder under the appropriate skin directory, delete the skin.bin file, restart ootp21...voila.

This looks pretty nice. I'll definitely be giving it a try later. Thanks.

Note: The files go here, copied over the defaults. Also, the usual: The skins files have to be downloaded and installed, manually if necessary, and being an administrator when starting the game (right-click the game icon, choose properties, and start as administrator) helps. Delete the skin.bin file and restart the game.
[You take care of follow-up inquiries, koohead, as it is your thread and your handiwork, plus you have demonstrated great capability in "help desk" empathy!] Heh, I opened the first file, rating_bar_00.png, and was ready to cry foul! "Fraud! Malpractice! The file is blank!" followed by "Oh. 00. Zero. Null. No value, no image." A placeholder necessity, I guess; the original rating_bar_00.png also opens blank although it has an iconic image in the folder. I want to see how this looks with my revised Classic skin. Will report back soon.

Before and after. Your modded rating bars blend nicely with the modded wood grain heading. Nice, nice, nice! Thanks again.

Your next mission, koo, should you choose (i.e., be crazy enough) to accept it, would be to tone down and "grainify" the Continue button by working with these files. Feel free to decline, in which case this post ought to self-destruct, but it won't.

I did this not expecting to care much about it but instead I found it does indeed go really well with the wood grain. Awesome job.

Hmmm. Somehow, the wood grain in the rating bars works because you expect and use the colors for valuation. Here, though, the green looks funky . . . green wood? Suggest a dark brown with a finer grain so as to not conflict too much with the font; a contrast for legibility is preferable. If I am not asking too much.

Also, in the header, I was able to eliminate these border lines caused by mismatched grain by taking out one of the image files (top_right). I don't think you can do that here. So, unless you can find a grain fine enough to hide the mismatch while not disappearing altogether, perhaps a solid brown color would be best. Something that looks like the pressed "Head Scout" button? (See above.)
