Question for next year

So I just finished 2020 and 2021 Season using OOTP 21. I would like to keep my same rosters but use ratings from OOTP 22 to continue my season with 2022 play. Is it possible to import my entire league into OOTP 22 next year but have it update all players from their actual 2020 (I know short schedule) performance? Thanks.

I’m a bit confused by your question. If you are asking if you can take your current game universe and import it into next years game the answer is yes. However, I think I am missing something in your question.

Yes, you should be able to import your current OOTP 21 game into OOTP 22 when it is released, but you will not be able to base player ratings on their real life 2020 performances. You would have to continue into your league's next scheduled season, which in your case is 2022.

In your current game, you have already simulated past 2020 and through 2021, so any real life 2020 stats or ratings would no longer apply. Your league has taken on a life of its own. When playing into the future like you have been, the whole point of OOTP is to use its development and game engine to simulate your own alternative future, and you've left the real world behind.

However, if you wanted to create a new league with the same rosters as your current game, but starting from scratch with ratings based on 2020 stats and then moving forward, you could do this by creating a historical game starting with the 2020 season. Or you could create a new game starting in 2021 with the game's player ratings going into that season. Most of those ratings are going to be based on real life player performances from 2020 anyway.

So I would have to replay 2021 season using my roster from OOTP 21 in the OOTP 22 game. That would seem to get to my goal of having the roster I created impacted by actual 2020 stats. So my current game is can be a "historical" league?

You won't have an historical league if you play past the point where there is history. Actually if you play a current year before the next version of OOTP comes out you've played into the future.

Why is everyone trying to answer a question not meant for this year?

You will not be able to play the game you are playing now with the new roster set enabled that will come with OOTP 22. You can keep playing the game you are playing now in OOTP 22 with the rosters and ratings as they are now.

If you want to play with the new rosters, you will have to start a new game.

We are answering exactly what he asked. He wants to know if he can import his current league into OOTP22 when it's released, but update all the player ratings based on their real life 2020 stats. Obviously 2020 is this year.

I think you misunderstood his question. Here's what he asked:

To use player ratings from 2020 and play out the 2021 season, you would have to start over and create a new league in OOTP 22. There is no way to have the real life player ratings or stats from OOTP 22 affect your current game or roster set.

However, as I mentioned earlier, if you want to create an entirely new league in OOTP 22, starting with player ratings based on 2020 statistics, but have the team rosters based on your current league, you could do that by creating a new league and then using commissioner mode to release all players and then assign or draft them to each team based on the rosters in your current OOTP 21 league.

You would not have any of your current league's history or stats, and it would be a time-consuming process to set up the rosters. But theoretically it's possible. And your league would be starting all over, from the beginning, with no history or accumulated stats.

There are no stats in OOTP 22 or in 21 or 20. Do you mean ratings?

I would beg to differ, there. There will be stats for the 2020 season in OOTP 22, and player ratings ratings will largely be based on those figures unless Markus and company decide that 2020 was so awful that it must be erased from history.
