Longevity

23 Seasons - well, 22 and a 1/3. Did very well and retires as career hits leader. Didn't miss a lot of time either, 2051, 55, and his last season, 57, were the only times he missed significant time to injury.

Oh no! He was so freakin' close to 4,000 career hits. Quite the career... Loving the number of Stolen Bases too.

Speaking of retired players... How/Why is the AI able to unretire players in OOTP? I've seen a handful of examples where players have retired and the following season, or maybe they'll miss an entire year, those players will be playing for a professional team again. Is that controlled by a setting? Or is it just something that happens from time to time?

By WAR he's way better than my hits leader. Either way this is the beauty of OOTP, believable stats over a career and over decades of play.

This guy's winding it down, it seems. Quite the hitter in his day, and his day was a few decades ago.

Exactly. Being able to look over one's leauge\game and seeing the variety of realistic players that "live" in your world. OOTP really is an amazing game

You wouldn't mind one of him every decade or so, would you. Fantastic stuff.
On a complete side note - how did you get your awards area looking the way it does?

When you start your game, click on settings, then use this drop down to select your choice.

I usually start with "Show All" for a new league, and once I get about 10 - 20 seasons played I change it to "Show 3". Eventually when the league has a lot of seasons and there are multiple players with a lot of awards I set to "Show 1".

It happens randomly, however you can right click on any retired player (Must be in Commish Mode) and there is an option to "Unretire"

I thought about unretiring him for a season and see if he could get another 100 hits to reach 4000, and his ratings don't look that bad yet (20-80 scale) but I get the feeling if he did manage to sign, he'd be a part timer at best. Plus with him being fragile at 43/44 yrs of age, he may just spend a lot of the season on the DL too.

I think I'll just leave it as is, at the end of the day it was his choice to retire.

I just showed your player to Barry Bonds. He said, "Holy $hit! Look at those numbers...That dude was definitely juicing. I can't stand cheaters..." Then we looked at each other, paused for a few seconds, and had a long hearty laugh together.

Wow, he's a walking/power hitting machine. A career .474 OBP - wow, just wow.

My pitcher of longevity Alejandro Espinoza. A 16 year old scouting discovery out of Cuba.

Wins and losses don't tell much about a pitcher but when you win 408 games and 400 of them are complete games, it says a little bit.

His numbers back that up.

I guess he was walked intentionally with the bags full quite a bit.

Found no pitchers in my Raccoons save's Hall of Fame (and that save is all I really play) that were effective past 40. Few even made it to 40.

Here's one that isn't even retired yet (and won a triple crown as Raccoon ) Not first-echelon great, not even a sure-first-ballot Hall of Famer, and oh god, all the home runs, but still looking for a job this year, and the way my pitching staff is going I might just snatch him for a farewell assignment....
