Question about winter leagues

I'm not exactly new to the game as I've been playing since OOTP13. However, if memory serves me, I think I unsuccessfully tried a long time ago to run a winter league that ran beyond January 1 of the following year. I don't remember what the issue was (maybe something with the almanac? the league stopping on December 31?), but I recall having a problem with the league when it entered the new year. As I would like to add several real winter leagues to my fictional universe this year, I simply need to know ahead of time if I should have no issues going beyond January 1, or should I make sure those leagues end in December?

No problems. It continued from December 31 to January 1 without issue.
