Two captains - team chemistry

So one of my team leaders has been promoted to captain.

I have now two captains.

And the newly promoted captain is now mentioned in the bench coach report instead of the original captain.

Questions:-

1) Does two captains impact on team chemistry over time? currently 'Ecstatic'

2) The original captain is hanging onto his spot on the active roster with no options remaining, what kind of impact given I have another captain is there if I DFA or not renew his contract?

Thanks for any advice/feedback in advance

If I'm reading it correctly, your first question implies a concern about whether or not those two captains will clash over time for absolute leadership, perhaps resulting in "factions" within the player group. I've not run up against this so far. Having two captains not only seems to bolster the overall leadership strength within the group, but also gives you some flexibility, which leads nicely to question 2.

I'd bet London to a brick that if you let the second captain go, you'll get a PM saying something along the lines of "the players are sad to see Joe Bloggs go. But they feel there are sufficient leaders within the group that it shouldn't have too much of an effect".

The problem then of course is you no longer have the two captains and the leadership and flexibility that brings. So if you are trading and a suitable player comes along who is a captain, I'd seriously think about adding him to give you both of these elements back.

The other thing to keep in mind is the overall mixture of your players. Positive characteristics tend to offset negative ones. If you have selfish, unmotivated or - God forbid - disruptive players, the larger the number of captains and leaders and hard workers and sparkplugs you have, the less these troublesome types will generally affect your results. So if you let this chap go and have only a few good guys left and a few bad eggs in the group, that will magnify his absence.

That's just my take on it from the experience I've had.

Thanks for the reply, yeah my main concern was I lose some team chemistry with the removal of a captain, but also there would a clash between them.

I don't have any negative types on the active roster at the moment, but there is at least one in line for a chance to be promoted from AAA to the majors next season.

More pondering and decision making ahead.

Thanks again for the reply

I’ve never experienced bad results with a team full of leaders and captains.
