Reliever starting the game, lasting 62 pitches?!
Question about pitching staff, I only simulate the games via continue button "Finish Today".
Background info: I have a 5 man starting rotation, with "Strict, on occasion highest rested" One of my starting pitchers has a minimal injury and I have set his game strategy to "Bench player if severity at least minimal" He was shown in the game preview as my starting pitcher and I clicked on "Finish today" and looked at the box score and he was not pitching the game, instead it was one of my relievers. So far so good but look at the stats what he put up. He has stamina of 15 and pitched 62 pitches! Yes, I have set the game strategy to not hook the starting pitchers quick. So is this just the combination of all my settings or should the computer still hook him quicker because he has such low stamina? ![]() (If my text is confusing, please excuse me as my native language is not english and I tried to explain everything. If you have follow up questions please ask!) ![]()

This has nothing to do with your settings.
When in a starting role, even at low stamina, a pitcher is going to be able to get around 60 pitches in. This, for the most part, makes sense. There isn't a major league pitcher who would not be able to throw that many pitches in a game if they were "stretched out". What the game does not do a good job of simulating is whether a pitcher is "stretched out". If they are the starting pitcher (but not in an Opener role) the game just assumes they are stretched out and they get that benefit. |
