Season 21 (2040) General Discussion
Wasn't there a time when there was a race to open this thread?
Anyway, both my teams are in .500 Nothingland. The Raccoons are crummy throughout; the Mets have a good enough offense, but their pitching is getting mauled. They also hold almost 30k PP. There's maybe ONE pitcher (at most two) on the market that's even affordable *and* would be an improvement. Yes, yes, theme team, I know, I know.

3 of my 4 gold teams are leading their respective divisions in gold, Paragon City have had the best start at 40-15. The variable strength of divisions in gold is very high though, 21st Century are 34-21 with a 10 game lead with every other team below .500
My team in silver, the Bad News Barnstormers are also leading their division at 37-16

Corsairs are just under .500 in their division after barely missing relegation last season. Subway Rats are leading theirs by a couple of games for now and the Elitist Scum are settling on the bottom of the pool where they'll need to be scraped off.

The two teams I have in Gold are sitting 1/2 and 1 game out of WC spots early on.
The team that was promoted to Diamond is sitting on a woeful 17-37 record, good for second worst in the league. Relegation looms for previous year's Gold Champions. I am also taking a break from tournaments for a week as my rosters are all jacked following the Live updates. If I get some time this weekend I'll try and repair them. I'm going to wait until the end of the season to set them all back up again since things will be stabilized again. Using activate all eligible/have ai set up team for now. Don't expect to win anything but not putting much (barely any LOL) effort into signing up either...

Nearly halfway through Season 21.
Longview Woodchucks are 36-43, 6 games out of the division lead, good for second place and fighting off regulation in Bronze 271. Nacogdoches Jacks are 36-44, 16 games out of the division lead in fourth place and like the Woodchucks, fighting off regulation in Bronze 233. Meanwhile in Iron 248, Stephanie's Neffin-neffs are 41-36, two games out of the division lead, and one game out of the wildcard. One half done, one half to go.

So far, two division leader (gold and silver), and another gold team that is sitting 1.5 out after enduring their seasonal 1-9 streak. Barring major improvements to other teams in my leagues, I'm expecting at least two playoff teams, probably three. (Next season, of course, promises to be horrible, as teams will treat water without the benefit of those PP wins throughout.)
Is it wrong that I'm hoping that the FOTF missions I've already competed are actually released this week? ![]() |

Acquiring Cap Anson and Roger Connor in 2035, enable me to live the dream of a FTP being a playoff contender in Diamond. This week is no exception.
The iron team had 4 graduates to bronze, but they went out in a blaze of glory last week earning 75 packs. This was after taking a break for 2 weeks so I left over a hundred packs on the table. I am the poster boy for upgrade paralysis because not only do I not spend my million points, I am afraid to open the packs. |

Finally finished Jackie, market has been a bit dry for gold NL players recently, loads on today so finally got it done. Gives me an IF selection of FOTF Alomar, SE Honus, Peak Olerud, SE Jackie, 95 Eddie Collins, Ray Dandridge.
At the moment i'm going 1b Olerud, 2b Jackie, SS Honus, 3b Alomar with Collins or Dandridge as a backup, maybe both. Just may hurt Alomars season training at a new position when he has a shot at an MVP

Silver week for both teams
As you can see on the OOTP banners below, not much luck in silver for either of my 3.0 teams. There is one 1 there, indicating a playoff performance, and I think it was a legit good showing...? "Goes to show you never can tell" (-Chuck Berry)
But I'm having the usual this week, & both teams are ...struggling. Last week was the bestest. I had three playoff teams in serious contention even though they all fell before the finals. Something like 104 wins per team (91-117 wins)... Now in molding the future, leave it to me, I have no ideas that make it too complicated for me. True...Here's a look at my overly emotional for this week, Emotion team (BTW, let me know what you think of this team I based on emotion...At this point, I said, If I'm gonna have a play, I may sometimes want it to be interesting first, a feel-good triumphant script second, would like to at least get Marshall and Ventura over the Mendoza Line.:

Finally day and the AC West remains tight with 3 teams in the hunt. It's winner take all because a WC berth is remote.
Meanwhile, the iron team was patched up and ventured forth to win 4 packs with a 2nd and 2 thirds. This was overshadowed by twitch drops which secured 10 free packs. I sold one new live bronze card for 450! (There is another one out there that people are paying 3000+ for, go figure). |

I'm 1/2 game back (even in loss column) of Austin, so the Oracle rates me just 37% chance! However, of the 17 games remaining, 4 are against New Orleans (2 games back) and 7 against Austin.

I just realized the Magpies have a split personality this week: 49-25 at home vs. 33-44 on the road. So winning 3 out of 4 at New Orleans was a positive sign as well putting us up 1 game over Austin. But tragically the next 2 games at Chicago (59-92) were lost including the 2nd one losing in the 9th inning up by 3 with 2 out. It was the 8th blown save for Bob Howry who was reliever of the year last week. One more against Chicago and 3 more on the road against Austin followed by 7 at home 4 against Austin and 3 against last place Wisconsin.
LATEBREAKING NEWS: Jack Quinn goes the distance to blank Chicago 4-0 and the Magpies up by 1 heading to Austin. New Orleans remains 2 behind. |

No help from the Breeze as they lose all 3 to Austin and are eliminated. My own series with Wisconsin was more exciting than strictly necessary, but we got the job done. All tied up with Austin and 4 to play with them. Basically, a best-of-5 end of season series for the division crown. All of a sudden the Oracle favors Austin 63% to 37%

Mets came up 81-81 and perfectly crummy. Ralph Kiner hit 38 bombs for the homer crown, though.
The Raccoons tumbled into a wild card. I mean, I'll take an 88-74 season for another pack which will have (mumble) nothing in it... (opens pack) ... and ... oh man, Kohl Stewart, I have really made out here...

The YakAnglers finally got around to completing the Live missions, which added some much needed PPs to the account. Started with around 30k and ended with over 150k, while keeping all of the usual suspects. With the proceeds we bought 97 Sisler for 44k, 100 SE Henderson for 39k, someone was having a fire sale and listed several players at minimums. Overspent by a few Ks for 92 Aparicio (68k) although we were after 98 Bordeaux. Finally we decided to give 98 SE Seaver another shot at 28k. YakAnglers finished in 2nd place with a record of 85-77, three games out of the playoffs.
The Marathoners are stuck in Diamond purgatory, finishing for the second week in a row 1 game above the relegation zone. The Battle Corgis also finished the Live Missions a few weeks ago, which took them out of Silver, onto Gold, and straight into Diamond where they finished 72-90, one game above the relegation zone. Checked the team below me, who had lost 9 straight to end the season, and I see 100 Clemens, 100 Banks, 100 Jennings, 100 Mays, 99 Maddux, 100 FInley and possibly others replaced with the likes of 64 Jeff Stone and 69 Angel Berroa. They were reported for tanking.

And the Magpies stumble into the playoffs with a 8-7 win in game 162, basically hanging on after jumping off to an 8-1 lead after 4 innings. 90 wins is the only division winner not at 100 or more and of the 10 playoff teams only 1 won fewer. Our first opponent is Mt. Shasta whom we had the pleasure of defeating 4 games to 3 during the regular season. Statistically, we were #1 in the conference in batting average, runs scored, and fewest strikeouts. I really should do something about that pitching.....it's not like I'm broke.

Both of my gold teams earned WC spots. But after seeing what happened to my 3rd team in Diamond, who won a Gold championship last week to get promoted for the first time, I kind of think an early exit is best for them.
The Diamond team stumbled to a .333 winning percentage, good for dead last in their league, and will be headed back to Gold next week. Their message to my other two teams after being beaten up all season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd4z...youtu.be&t=200 |
