How to start up to date season?

I am new to this game and have been having major troubles trying to start a new season with the updated schedule and rules. Can anyone please help me? It will be much appreciated.

Open the game and from the main menu click on New Standard Game. Then a window pops up to select leagues. Mine already had Major League Baseball checked and below MLB shortened 2020 season (60games) was also checked. Just click start game. There is also the option to name your league to whatever you like. Hope this helps.

Maybe I haven’t done the update properly. There is no option under mlb season for the short season. So may issue may be with how I’m doing the patch.

Check the version number at bottom of opening screen.

It seems my issue then is doing the patch incorrectly. I have a Mac and used the link for Mac on the post.

What is the difference between "live start" today or going to the "shortened season" option below for a 60 game schedule?

This is from the manual:
Standard games can be started using the Live Start option, with updated standings, stats, ratings, and rosters as of the current real world date. This allows you to begin a game in an up-to-date simulation of the real world, playing whatever portion of the season remains.

If you play a shortened season you play at your own pace and depending on your settings player ratings etc change during the season per the game engine.
