Expanded Roster Size
What exactly is the expanded roster size? It is 28 here. Does this mean the roster is 30, but only 28 players are eligible for any given game? Or does this mean teams' can expand by 28 players on September 15?

That may be a 'typo'....with the new Covid settings, the MLB is doing something weird with how the active rosters look for this 60 game season, but I don't think it can be done automatically unless they added some code to the game.
When the season opens on July 23 or 24, teams will submit rosters of up to 30 players, with a minimum of 25. Two weeks later, those rosters will be trimmed to 28, then to 26 two weeks after that. Once teams are limited to a 26-man roster, they will be permitted to add a 27th player for doubleheaders. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-roster-...or-2020-season Last edited by ohiodevil; 07-21-2020 at 06:23 AM. |

Can this be done for minor leagues...or international leagues?
Edit: It doesn't appear so, but this would be a great addition for other leagues as well. So for instance, you would be able to have A+ teams with 35 players on a roster, and have only 25 eligible for any given game. Last edited by PSUColonel; 07-21-2020 at 11:54 AM. |

With the short season MLB setup, we have special events that will reset rosters 30 to 28 to 26 to follow the MLB system rules.
We also have changes in place so that if you just set that up normally (so active roster > expanded roster), then that should allow rosters to shrink after the expansion date and that should work, although there may be cases that the AI doesn't handle particularly well (in many cases they still think about the active roster, so they might end up signing players that they can't use, for example) |

So this isn't doing what I thought? It's just contracting the roster....not allowing for only a certain amount of players to eligible on a larger roster?

No, it's not a smaller active roster, but more about following the current MLB setup where the overall roster size changes over time.
