Exclamation Public Beta Patch (Version 21.5.70) Available! (Includes shortened 2020 MLB Season!)

Update July 22: 21.5.71 has now launched officially:

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=318866

The difference to 21.5.70 is a fix that handles other international leagues properly when creating a Standard Game with the shortened season.

Update July 21: New build 21.5.70 is live, fixes two issues (service time & imported draft picks becoming Rule 5 eligible. Download links below have been updated, new Steam build is live, too.

Important: This patch is only for OOTP 21 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is also available via the Steam client with the public password below.
It is NOT compatible with the Mac OSX AppStore or Game Pass version!

Hi everybody!

Opening Day is almost here, and we have been working hard to make OOTP support the shortened 2020 MLB 60-game season along with its rule changes. But we did not stop there, the upcoming patch (scheduled for official release on Wednesday or Thursday) includes many additional improvements and bug fixes. So, here's a the public beta, version 21.5.70.

We have tested this build for 24 hours and did not find any issues, however use this at your own risk! Please back up important league files before loading them in this beta.

Also, this patch is NOT compatible with previous versions in online leagues!

Quick info: We suggest to not use the Live Start feature prior to July 24, as creating the game may take a long time because it tries to fetch data that is not available from our stats provider yet. Also, please keep the league evolution setting enabled in new 2020 MLB games, otherwise the schedule will not revert back to 162 games in 2021 automatically.

Changelist (21.5.70):
- 3D animation updates: Added animation for rare rundown at 3B. Fixed 2B not tagging base on U4 Groundout. Improved visuals/pbp for infield singles. Improved timing on OF throws.
- Improved 2020 MLB & international rosters sets (need to create new game for changes to apply)
- Added option to have a shortened 2020 MLB season to the "Start Standard Game" option
- Added option for extra inning games to start with runner on 2nd
- Added ability to set an expanded roster limit below the active roster limit
- Online leagues: enabled option for trading with AI teams (manager submits trade with export, will be processed with the AI choosing the "best" trade for their team if multiple offers)
- Added option to generate html game log and wpa graph generation to Game dropdown menu (for online league members to generate all logs from recent sims)
- Added mail notification of sold player contract in Independent Leagues
- Added options for doing CSV/SQL dumps to online league commissioner automator page. Added option to skip faces.dat from league file upload.
- Added ability to scroll when on a coach page to next/previous coach from list
- Added 'Y' and 'N' as valid inputs for Yes/No confirmation boxes
- Added tag in world_default.xml to specify global second nation pct (second_nation_rand, can also be specified on each nation to set a custom rate)
- Improved auto-generation of minor league setup in expansion wizard
- Improved and added to the world db and the schools db
- Increased the number of players which triggers the automatic display of page selectors in sortable lists from 4096 to 8192.
- PT: added more options to PP History on players
- PT: quicksell confirmation closes automatically
- Fixed cannot fire human manager setting in online leagues
- Fixed issue in online leagues where players released from the international complex were somtimes added to the dfa with 0 days left instead
- Fixed reverse claim order
- Fixed bug where preseason predictions were not being passed to GMs in online leagues
- Fixed news from around the world filters not sticking
- Fixed bug where schedules weren't being made for minor league affiliates created when expanding league
- Fixed bug where selecting to fill minor league affiliates with fictional generated players when expanding league did not do so
- Fixed some issues with setting draft/scouting/dev budgets while team is over budget
- Fixed players learning new pitches but having 0 current rating on them
- Fixed issue where export and import of rosters would cause stuff to rise on relievers
- Various other minor bugfixes & improvements

How to access the beta on Steam:
  • Quit OOTP 21 if it's running.
  • Open Steam client -> Library
  • Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 21
  • Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
  • Click on the beta tab. Here, enter the following code / password: ootp21pubbeta
  • Click on "Check code"
  • Open the beta pull-down and select "publicbeta".
  • Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
  • Open the client again. It should then download the beta build.
Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Please post here if you have any issues or if you run into major bugs. Thanks!

Cheers,
Markus & the entire OOTP Team

Some notes on this patch:
-As noted above, it is NOT online league compatible with previous versions. You need to ensure ALL league members are on the new version. It's recommended that if you are in an online league, you ensure all users can get access to the new version, process all the league imports as commissioner, and then save and load the game on the new version when you tell league members to update. We anticipate the patch going live later this week which will auto-update on Steam, so do take that into account when you plan your sim schedule for the week.
-Online leagues should also make note of the new options added, most notably the ability to trade with AI teams. You'll need to decide in your league whether to allow this or not If you cannot figure out the options, please let us know and we can elaborate further on the process.
-Also of note is that this league increases version numbers, so if you load a game in this version, you CANNOT open it with the previous version. Especially for anyone in online leagues that may have to temporarily switch back and forth between versions, this is important to keep in mind.
-If you change between this version and the previous release, you may notice your perfect team leagues fail to open on occasion - that happens if you load a league file in the new version and then switch to the old version shortly thereafter without it downloading a new version from the server. You can simply delete the old league folder and it should work again. There are no issues in compatibility between this version and the PT servers
-For the new 2020 season/live start, we did a quick last minute tweak that should still allow you to disable the overall league evolution while still having the system revert to 2021 rules. You MUST have the new league evolution setting enabled for the entire off-season to ensure that the system reverts properly. It will disable/hide automatically when the season rolls over to 2021 so there is no need to update that setting after that point. Due to the way the setup works, some items will get mass-adjusted either at the beginning of the off-season or the beginning of the 2021 pre-season. I believe we have balanced financials and settings, however do please let us know if we missed anything
-If you choose the short season without the live start, we have rescheduled the draft for a couple days after our new league start date. Thus, you may run the draft yourself if you wish. Alternately, on draft day, there is a button you can use to import the actual draft results. We would recommend making a backup before running that in case there are issues with the draft list file in your setup. If it doesn't work properly, you may have to force the game to re-install the game data to make sure your draft list file is updated.
-Also note is that obviously we can't 100% test the live start situation with the new season since it's new for all of us. We'll certainly monitor things when games start for real over the weekend, but do note that there's

Enjoy the changes A lot here, especially for online leagues and just some general fixes, along with obviously the short season support. Please do let us know any issues you come up with!

Known issues:
-We have discovered one issue where service years are not 100% getting adjusted properly for the new schedule
-Imported draft picks are becoming rule 5 eligible after the season instead of 4-5 years down the line

"- Improved auto-generation of minor league setup in expansion wizard"

Walking through the expansion wizard for testing and not really able to tell what has changed. Just a reworking of some of the random generating stuff like cities... or something else I should be checking?

Steam beta version.

D'loaded, updated workshop files IE stadiums, unis, facegens for historical play.

Tried to load my 1969 Twins game. Failed on sqlite file error.

Loaded the game earlier today on the last version. Just checked, it still loads on my Fastspring .63 version

Edit: Never mind. Virus software didn't like the new exe. Set to ignore and game loaded fine.

Before when you tried running an expansion with the wizard, the default minor league system setup (league and divisions of the expansion teams' minor league clubs) would not be a valid option. It would pop up a warning about even and odd numbers of teams in certain leagues, and the wizard would basically require manual changes that were not clear. So now you should just be able to click through the wizard, and all default generated setups should allow you to continue without problem.

Thank you. That is very testable then

Is this planned on being fixed for the "real" release of this patch? I would love to use the import draft feature and start a new save this week, with the actual drafted players going to their real life teams. Having all of the draft picks being rule 5 eligible would not be ideal, though. Can't wait to try this out!

Most likely we'll have a new build to fix this in the release patch, yeah.

Yes, in Live mode the players will be on the teams that drafted them automatically.

In the 60-game non-live mode, the draft will run like two days after the game starts and you have the option to import the real list of signings and have those guys go to the team that selected them in rl or to just have the game run the draft, whichever you prefer.

In the regular 162 game start, the draft just happens like normal. I think you can still import the real list there though if you want, but not 100% sure on that.

International/Independent Leagues

Not sure if this has been addressed already, but what happens if one were to use the 60 game season, but also wanted to have international and independent leagues be in the game?

Injuries

Something I have noticed, which is not exactly a bug, is that certain injuries that were present when the season was supposed to open in March have not been updated. Particularly, I notice this with Andrew McCutchen, who has been playing in exhibition games and is set to open the season with the Phillies in real life, has 3-4 weeks left being injured in this patch. On a similar, but opposite end, Seranthony Dominguez is also injured for 3-4 weeks, but in real life is going to miss all of 2020 and most of 2021.

Is there a plan to have these sorts of injuries tweaked before the official release of the patch?

If you use the live start setup, then it should update injuries for players (plus "injure" players who have opted out for the season). The non-live short start is not updated for any change in status between March and today.
