Does a team need a captain -- and player complaints
I was wondering what affect not having a team captain may have on a team.
My 2028 St. Louis River Walkers, I play out every inning of every regular-season game, started out the season just fine without one. They went 21-11 in March/April, 17-12 in May but are 6-8 in June, and have lost 4 of 6. That puts their record at 44-31, but leaves them just a half-game up in the division. The question is there because under the bench coach report "There is some dissension in the clubhouse." Our only leader is a second-year reliever. Also our best pitcher, Angel Tiburcio, is listed as being a disruptive influence -- or is he the one complaining about someone else, I'm not sure -- after suffering his first loss since a 7-0 start. Problem is, I really like my roster. Everyone seems to have a role and there is no one who could be considered a throwaway just to get some veteran "captain" on the team. Even my backup catcher is vital, being probably my best left-handed bat off the bench. Season's still young, we're six games shy of the midway point, but I don't want to let things fester because I think this division race will be a fight to the finish. |

You don't NEED a capitan. But they help. As does having more leaders.
I'm fairly sure that Tiburico is doing the complaining Winning usually cures all, so I wouldn't worry too much about it |

I think these things are secondary to having good players/ a winning team. As Billy Martin used to say, "If you're not having fun, win more! Winning is fun!" Although his idea of fun was a little different...
Anyway, I think the Captain role is mostly important to offset malcontents like your "Disruptive" guy there. If you are lucky enough to have more than one captain, you can have a couple or three sourpusses around and the clubhouse will stay happy. I think the ratings themselves are pretty hilarious. I'm Facebook friends with some of the players on the Italian national team and I noticed the other day OOTP rated one of them a "Prankster", which I find completely inaccurate, he's a great guy but pretty serious, at least in his media feed ![]()

I hope in OOTP 22, there's an option to randomly generate player personalities.
There are some personalites that just don't match up in the game |

Is that not a result of randomly generated personalities.

If you can, try and find a backup catcher or another bullpen arm that is a Captain. I do that a lot if I’m running low on leaders/captains.
