Going 5-5 >>> Pitching a No-No?
Just had a game where Smoky Joe Wood pitched a No-No, and Ichiro also went 5-5. 5-5 is great, but what's more rare?
Not a single mention of the No-No in the game recap. All Ichiro, every paragraph. Poor Smoky Joe. The press clearly loves Ichiro. |

More rare is pitching a no-hitter and slamming 2 homers, like Rick Wise did 47 years ago this month.

Zero mention of the No-no? 5-5 isn't all that uncommon? Add it to the broken stuff list

Probably two separate articles in the News - one focusing on each achievement. At least that's what I've seen.

Same. Pitched a perfect game in the playoffs today. First time, haven't seen a no-hitter either. No mention whatsoever. Funny enough, it also just talked about series MVP Suzuki.

It was my boy Sid Fernandez. On both my teams, will have to drop him eventually as we climb but he's been fun.
Hah maybe so.

Some news articles essentially "supplant" the regular recap item, so 5-5, shutouts, etc... all trigger their own news stories. And basically whichever gets there first becomes the "official" recap of the game. So we must presumably check for players getting 5 hits in a game before we check for shutouts, so it got in first.
