Names Vanish When Importing Free Agents

Clearly, I'm doing something wrong ...

I exported the free agents, which created a .txt file.

Opened that in Excel. Did nothing to it. Saved it. Imported that same file. All player names vanished.

Any ideas?

Re-importing the original file restores all of the names.

OK, in case this helps someone else.

I renamed the original export file .csv. Opened it in Excel. Made changes. Re-imported it without issue (and the names all remained).

I assume it was a file format issue.
