Is there a way to not use a player at all in Spring Training?
For the first 1/2 of sprint training, I like to let the young guys & guys fighting for roster spots get all of the playing time. Then, I start ramping up the work for the regulars.
One issue I always run into is that my studs still get AB's and - more importantly - innings pitched no matter how I set the depth charts and lineups. For the SP, I usually make them "Emergency Starters" and "Avoid High Leverage", but they still get used too much while guys I want to see get 5 or 6 IP. I suppose for pitchers, I could temporarily set their pitch count to something really low (like 1, maybe) but that seems...unwise. Is there any way to keep certain players from appearing in spring games? |

There is an option to bench a player for a certain number of days on the player strategy page. Not sure if this works for Spring Training, but it is worth a shot.
