Player Options
I have a question and wondering if I encountered a glitch or not. Maybe a CBA loophole that I took advantage of.
My 5-Star 3B, and by far the star on my team, is in his player option year. The season ended (a rough year. Injuries tore through the team), and I get an email from the player saying he was going to use his option and test free agency. His moral wasn't very good. Not surprising. After taking 10 minutes to have a nice cry, I simmed a few days, looked in the arbitration screen, saw him there. So I put in an offer that I thought was fair. A tad higher than what the game automatically put in. I simmed a few more days and saw that the arbitrator agreed with the team and he was given a new contract. Advanced a few more days to the start of free agency, the player is still on my team. and his moral is very happy. I'm glad hes still a member of my team, but should he be? He took advantage of his option. He wanted to test free agency. |

How many years of service time do players in your league need to be free agents?
MLB, and default, is 6. Your player has 3. If they weren't eligible for free agency, then the game was right to have them opt into arbitration. Yasiel Puig was a recent famous case where he opted to stay with his contract rather than opt into arbitration. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/...bitration.html |
