Question about setting budgets and money use...

Hey! Appreciate the help everyone.

Sadly, my cannabis based expansion team almost set the record for loses in a season with 113 for their inaugural run.

But, on the bright side, I've acquired a promising future of young prospects!

My question regarding the budgets is regarding allocating draft money.

Last year, with the number 2 pick, I only ended up spending 5 million on the draft in total, and that's with meeting every draftees demands without negotiating.

For some reason, the budget my team started with (which I couldn't change until this first offseason) had a whopping 33 million dedicated the draft!

That's crazy!

So, how much do you guys allocate? And if I allocate say 10 million, but only use 5 million again, can I use that extra 5 million somewhere else mid-season?

The money you don't use gets thrown back into the budget. If I am big team I set my draft to 20 - 30 million USD. Max development budget 36 million USD and max scouting budget at 24 million USD.

I try always to have max development and scouting budget no matter if big market or small market team. Draft budget though would probably be the first thing I cut going to a small market team.

The only reason you need a big draft budget is if a top prospect has the impossible label. Sometimes you have to give those players like 10x more money. Where its like 10-15 million USD for just 1 player.

Besides impossible label the other common one is around 7 or so million USD. I've signed 1st, 2nd,3rd all asking around 7 million before. I guess other teams didn't want to pay it.

Most of time everyone just wants slot or a little above the slot. Or you can just skip the players asking for crazy money. Someone might be an impossible sign and actually just not have good ratings at all. So why bother
