How the ... do I get rid of facegen pictures

I was happily going along in my game without the terrible face gen pictures.

Then, I thought I'd download some player photos.
I did so. It went off, mostly, without a hitch.

However, now I have a few players with the terrible facegen pictures.

I cannot figure out how to get rid of them?

I've finally, gotten rid of all the player pictures (including the downloaded photos), I think, buy disabling facegen in the file settings.

I'd like to use the player photos, but not at the cost of seeing those hideous facegens.

Any idea how to use the photos but keep the game from generating, or using the previously generated (but difficult to find and delete) grotesque, facegen pictures?

You can delete any facegen file you don't want. Go to the facegen folder and delete the file for the player. Z:\.....\OOTP Baseball 21\data\fg_files For example to remove Jason Kipnis's file delete kipnis001jas.fg.

If you want to delete the facegens already generated for your league, go to your .lg folder and drill down to:

\news\html\images\person_pictures

Delete the files.

You delete them or disable them in settings and your league settings. You have to do both settings.

Delete the files.
I did this. MULTIPLE times. However whenever I hover over a player or open a player profile page the facegen picture is recreated.

I found the .fg files (However, in OOTP Baseball\fg_files)
But, they are only for current players. Not the players from the historical game that I'm playing (1989). I don't find a data folder or any other .fg files. Or the .fg files for the players I'm currently using.

I've done this.
I think

In the Files>Settings>3d & FaceGen I disabled FaceGen

BUT

doing so grays out the options in Game Settings>Players and Facegen

.....and when I went to bed last night, after hours of messing with it, I still had facegens for certain players (even after closing and reopening the program multiple times), but his morning, it looks like all the facegens are gone and have been replaced with the player photos. Like a nightmare those facegens are.

I don't know if I'll try to update the photos as I progress through time, or not. Or, maybe, I should't do it at like 4 AM

Anyway, thanks again.

But if anyone knows where the .fg files for the current league are, and why they are in a different place than for current players, I'd like to know. Or maybe it's all part of my fever dream

I'm just a little curious, though. How do you feel about the facegens?

I've been wondering where the facegens come from, also. I make new ones and overwrite the old one. Then manually set the new facegen. Go to play the next game and the one I supposedly overwritten is back again. Where the hell did it come from? Some secret place? The whole facegen thing is wacked out. Crazy eye squints when the facegen didn't have the squints. The hair and beard and eye colors change too. I get black players with blue eyes. Hispanic player with blue eyes. This is enough to make you batty. No pun intended. It defeats the purpose of even making facegens. It's a shame. It used to be good. Now it's a mess.

I asked Markus about a year ago if he would be interested in replacing Facegen with a neural net and his response was

Thanks for the offer, but we're currently not in need for development help. Also, I see no need to replace FaceGen with anything else.
