Adding Financials later?
I have an existing league that doesn’t have financials. It’s a small league, 8 teams with 3 levels of minors. I had trades set to normal for the first few seasons, and there were occasional trades, but the teams stayed a little more static that I wanted. Sure, there were a couple of high profile players that changed teams, but the offseason would maybe include 1 or 2 trades. There were a few trades each season leading up to the trading deadline, but not quite what I wanted to see. I tried upping the trades to high, but it didn’t really have much impact. The other thing I’m seeing is that teams are holding on to older players too long. This seems like something that might change if they had to pay those players.
Now for my questions: 1. What do I need to look out for if I add financials to the league now? 2. What is the best way to do it? Should I turn on financials, and make sure the setting look good (then go into league settings and create fictional contracts for players and coaches? Or is there another, better way to handle this? 3. Would this address some of the issues I discussed above? (I would be adding free agency, etc. which seems Like it would help get some more movement.) |

Hmmm maybe turning on financials and using the reserve clause will get teams to move older players out and you can still keep some semblace of your old system.
