Bullpen Management

I simulate each game each day one at at time, I prefer to play more as president and general manager versus managing each game. I do like to set the overall master lineups and pitching staffs however.

Has anyone had trouble with their bullpens? I have accumulated a bullpen of really highly rated players (known quantities and young studs, I have a great scouting director). However no matter who is in there they are constantly blowing leads and giving up runs. All their ERAs are in the 5s and 6s. Then I get rid of a guy he goes to another team and seems to do well.

Im wondering if it is in the way the bullpen is managed or something else. Just wondering if anyone has had any tips of successes to share?

Maybe the pitching coach isn't suited for the staff. Maybe check and see if he has a good or poor influence on your pitchers.

Always seems to happen to me too. But there's usually a good reason. One common reason is they're overworked. Even the best relievers will struggle (both in real life and OOTP) if they need to pitch 4-5 times each week. And there's a domino effect, where if one guy struggles and you have to take him out after 1-2 batters, the next guy will have to pitch and won't be able to rest his arm..

If all your pitchers are in the yellow/red, you might want to send a couple of them down and bring up some rested guys from AAA. There should also be at least 1-2 guys in the bullpen with decent stamina who can take over long relief roles.
