Can you put a historic Team in 2020 season?

Is it possible to take an historic team prior to 2020 and put them in the 2020 season?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You can import any player or team in to your league. This has been asked multiple times. Use the search function on "historical" or "import" in this section or the general section. Or you could read the manual.

Tthe manual is horribly vague and my experience is that the export / import simply does not work.

I think he refers to searching these forums, not the game itself.

Put Historic Team into any league... very simple....

Go to League Settings - League and Teams - Edit League Structure - Add Historic Team .... Pic Historic DB select year and team... Team wiil be imported...

If you are going to remove a team from league... If you dont delete players on the active roster they will be dumped into FA pool... else go to team - roster and transactions - checkbox all players right click delete... then delete your team

Deeper into it... You can go add the existing minor league teams which is part of the organization of the deleted team to your new team... Go to League Settings - League and Teams and attach to correct affiliation... or you can add Minor League teams to you AAA AA etc by using the method above and use the Minor League DB... most of the time historical Minors wont match up one to one with the multiple leagues in modern day baseball...

that is the easiest way to Put Historic Team into any league... hope this helps

This was great help for adding existing historic teams to a league. I tried adding minor league players using "Add historic team" and choosing the minor league database. However, the teams provided are the major league team, and when I add the team, I get the major league team. Is there another step I need to add? I'm using a custom league - do I have to name the minor leagues the same as the the real names to get the proper import?

Easiest way to add an org... mlb and minors ... create a new historical sim... go in and delete all the teams you dont want (this will take a bit of time) ... you should now only have your org... goto FA and delete all....

At this point you have your org and all your orgs players left...

Change name of mlb to something that does not match the mlb league you want to add teams to...

Now save as a template...

Go into you live league and under globel go add a template... now use original way to move teams to you mlb..aaa...aa.. etc

Then delete the template leagues... it should have no teams or players

Walla... hope this makes sense

I think I understand what you are describing.
Create Game -> Historical Game ...
MLB->League Settings->Edit League Structure: Delete teams from league other than those to keep.
MLB->Tranactions->Free Agent: Delete all Free Agents
MLB->League Settings->Teams & Leagues: Rename MLB to something else

So far so good. Thanks for the description! Looks like I can get all my historic teams and their minor league teams in as long as I don't inadvertently delete one I didn't mean to. It does take an incredible amount of effort to do it though.

I was hoping somebody would chime in with an easier way... lol

Good luck going forward... and Yes I have deleted a team I wanted to keep after about 30 minutes in.

It would be handy if you could simply select the minor league teams for any season associated with a major league team and dump those teams into their respective minor leagues and/or create them. It would be so much more quicker to add a historic team and their minor league clubs in this manner, than using a template and then moving all the clubs into the league. Or even simpler if a checkbox was added _ "Include associated minor league teams".

Now that I have all my teams in place, I am using the exported player list to find and remove all duplicated players. Aided by some python scripts I should be done.... in weeks?

And I did muck up and accidentally copy the wrong team & somehow deleted a few minor league clubs - more than once. Re-loading the template is a fine fix, but then deleting all leagues again is a real pain.

I feel that I should ask this question here as it is an extension of the historic season importing.

Now that I have several different seasons imported into my league, and set my starting season to 1961 I have a dilemma of some players earning 2015 dollars and some earning well all different season dollars.

Is there any simple way, without editing every single player, to reset the salaries to 1960 levels?

Answering my own question in case someone else has the same issue.

League Settings -> Functions -> Make Fictional Player Contracts (far right, second button from top)
That will set the players contracts to a value based on player value and experience. So it doesn't map the season the player was in to the equivalent dollar value of the season you have chosen, but better than having 2015 contracts existing in 1960.

That imports the historical team, but does not import the team's minor league system. The more complicated description above accomplishes both the team and their minor league teams.
