Do I Need FTP?
New league, new owners, we are all new to OOTP. I set up an online league and created a website.
Most of the owners won’t know or understand what FTP is and I haven’t yet figured out how to set up the three server directories though I will. Is it worth it to set this up? Is it easy to teach others how and where to upload the files or do they do it through OOTP? Is there a tutorial you can recommend for how to create the three directories? Our WordPress website is hosted with hostgator and I created a master ftp account. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by mbologna; 04-25-2020 at 02:23 AM. |

I am a brand new commissioner. I just set up a league. I am not extremely tech savvy and what I did was pay StatsPlus.net $100 for the year to host the league and get all the nice extras to get great results with Slack. Dave is the guy who runs it and he's very responsive. He sends instructions on everything. That's just my 2 cents. There's also AllSimBaseball.com that's helpful in setting up your league online and such.

I get that as an easy solution. I am ok with websites so I think I can do this. I need to know what the parent directory is that I put the sub-directories in.

UPDATE: I was able to get the sub-directories set up using a free FTP client software.

You know the game uploads from inside the game, right?

I did not - thanks. I am completely new to the game but as the most tech savvy of our bunch it has fallen to me to figure all this out.

I don't run any OOTP leagues, but statsplus is amazing. I highly recommend it.

using stats plus for first time this year and it is outstanding. works very well - very happy with the service. mostly turn key and well documented.
I will say that the level of needing to know tech is hard for me to determine. Dave from stats plus has it all organized and is quite easy to follow along. But I have also been configuring IT stuff for 30 years, so it all seems pretty "normal" to me. Not sure how it goes for people who have never done much tech. It is pretty well documented and I think you can mostly follow along on the setup guides. Dave is also very patient and easy to work with. these guidelines should help: https://wiki.statsplus.net/start-guide https://wiki.statsplus.net/en/league...ng/first-steps
