OOTP 21 Crashed and deleted my league. Please Help!!

Playing OOTP21 on Mac and the game has crashed a few times and shut down. Was able to open game again and my league was there, latest time during spring training about to start new season and it crashed and now my league is not there anymore, not sure if its deleted or been moved to where I can't just click continue. I have tried restoring it on my own, have had no luck at all. I am not the most technical computer guy, just have basic knowledge on how to navigate so I'm hoping there is something I am missing and my game is intact. I did download the new patch also after the fact. please help me if possible

If you navigate to your saved games folder, you'll probably see something similar to what's here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...5&postcount=30

Then follow the instructions from the next two posts in that thread (here) to copy the .dat files from your autosave folder and you should be able to restore the game.

like I said maybe I'm just computer illiterate but the Mac seems totally different, I can't seem to find anything

Yeah, Mac uses a different file structure.

Open OOTP, then go to settings > troubleshooting

Click the button to open the folder containing saved games.

Then you should see a similar folder to the one in that thread and be able to basically follow those instructions.

It's not a known issue per say.

Any time there's a crash it can create corruption in the league file. Or corruption in the league file can create a crash, either way.

But this is not typically not something we can fix or prevent from happening, as it depends on a user's system, its health, other third party programs installed that can interfere with OOTP or prevent it writing to disk or create corruption in a save file.

sent you a screenshot, its not letting me do anything after I get to those screens. I'm stuck at this point. Mac is totally different than windows and those instructions aren't really compatible at least for me

Do you know what the saved game you're looking for is named?

Can you search for that name in your Mac finder? Does it find a folder with that same name?

And the above is not the end of your help, but it's almost 10 in the evening for me, and I've been working for around 12 hours so I'll be heading offline very soon.

We'll try to get someone to help you out more tonight or else someone will get back with you more tomorrow.

Basically though, this is what you'll need to do.


1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

or for steps 1-3, just find the specific saved game in the Mac finder like I mentioned in the post above. Either way, once you find that folder, then do the following:

4) Now open up the league folder with the name of the saved game you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder (if any) and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

Now start the game and load your league.

I'm in France, but yeah, same timezone as Germany

If that didn't work, it's also possible the autosave is corrupt as well. In that case, there's probably nothing that can be done.

But I'll take a closer look at the PM tomorrow and see if it looks like there's more we can try or not.
