Prospect Development Question
Does a prospects' "Other Offensive Ratings" (Speed, Baserunning, etc) ever change or are they set in stone?

Speed will definitely change, so will defensive attributes. I imagine baserunning would as well, but I'm not positive.

The prospect in question has a speed rating of 4 out of 10. So it could reach a 5 or 6?

Yes. However, in my experience speed goes down more frequently than it goes up.

Unless they are extremely young 16-18 baserunning and defense ratings almost never change upwards. Everyone as they age declines so they go down or massive injury can wreck ratings.
Example say you have a huge Superstar international kid 16 or 17. He could be 5 stars but if he has no defense ratings it doesn't matter how much you play him. No defense ratings equals no position ratings. And you have to just sit and wait years to see if his defense pops and he can actually play any position even 1b. That defense rating increase will appear random to us and maybe it is. Who knows. Tcr setting does effect done players time to time depending on how aggressive your setting is. That's really the only thing that makes a players defense and speed increase out of the blue. When it comes to draft or international it's best to avoid players with no defense rating or extremely low. Its a Longshot they ever develop. Unless you are using them as instant trade bait |
