All-star game question

I am fairly certain that my team did not have an all-star representative. I know my team wasn't very good, but it's the rule. Does this game not follow the rule?

I guess not. Last season my team did not have one either, though they were not the worse team (81-81 record). I guess they were just not good enough individually.

No the game does not do that, the all-star game is a very small part of the game and that is probably the reason why this is not handled that way.

I noticed that too. I don't believe every team should have a rep if they don't have anyone deserving. I think MLB needs to change that, but I liked how the game did.

I don't think the All-Star game should have every team with a rep, but I think a choice on how many All-Star selections overall per team (25 to 35?) would reduce the number of snubs and be a neat feature.

Hopefully All-Star game stats won't be counted into players regular season totals with the next patch. I took it off the schedule because of that.

Does it Brandon? I know in the box score for the all-star game you'll see the results of the game's stats added on to a player's total, but I thought after the game those totals revert back so that the stats don't really count.

Can someone verify this?

All Star game stats don't count. I know Steve has commented on why it appears like they do in the past. I believe it has to do with recoding parts of the game engine to just count one game seperately.

An all-star selection and a high draft pick are about the only rewards a bad team has to look forward to each year. Taking away the all-star game would be just another slap in the face of small-market fans.

I'd love to see Ootp have at least the option to force an All-Star representative from each team. I know a lot of people don't like it IRL, but I think it's important-- fans of every team should have at least one guy they can watch the All Star Game for.

Actually, the choice to select the league All-Stars yourself would be a great option, too. I used to love selecting guys for a Pro Bowl back in my Tecmo Super Bowl days...

All-Star stats do not count as far as stats goes...don't worry about what it shows in the box score...it doesn't get saved that way....

OOTP doesn't try to copy the rules from MLB...so thats pretty much why its not in there..

It would be kinda cool if we could customize to some degree some of the factors of making the all-star team..size of the rosters...what to favor, IE power, AVG, speed, Def...that kinda thing...

The stats from the all-star game DO NOT count in season totals, it just "appears" that way because of the box score. In order for this not to "appear" this way an entirely separate game engine would have to be programmed for "one" game. Not a wise use of time.....

I've always noticed that it didn't have representatives from every team, but it really never bothered me. The All Star game is only minimally important to me. Anyway, I'd rather see a deserving player make the All Star game than a guy that's just there to fill a quota.

Props to rjb182 and holycow98 for their suggestions. Allow me to add a heartful "Amen!" to those posts.

I've hoped for some time to amend the All-Star process along the lines of my suggestions re: post-season awards, in that the game engine proposes a slate of candidates/honorees and the game owner selects the winners.

I could live with the present system if something were done so that the game selected the starters ( as done ), and we could pick the remainder of the rosters. This is, admittedly, way down on my list of "hoped-fors", far below the desire for customized playoffs ( he lobbied ).
