Pitching Rotation problem?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or wheather I am just not doing something properly but here goes.

I'm in year 2012 of my league that I have imported from the last 2 versions of the game. I decided to drop the worst team and imported the 1980 Phillies. All is well I imported at the end of the season and all. I'll also mention I'm using the new "manager" mode in the game. Anyway, the pitching rotation is set to a 0 man rotation. At the end of the season Carlton had 40 some starts. I tried to change the rotation to a 5 man rotation and I can't change it. In past versions of the game you could edit computer teams by setting them to human control but I THINK using the manager mode this can't happen. I then at the end of the next season imported the '62 Yankees team and same thing, 0 man rotation and unable to change. Am I missing something or is there no way for me to increase the rotation size from 0. I tried running computer manager and it hasn't changed anything.

Help! I have 2 teams with messed up pitching rotations.
