Well, yeah, that does tend to be part of the package. My advice is to hang in there with the videos and see what you can glean from them. I know that Aussie Villain is someone who is currently putting out quite entertaining videos. His approach is very likable and fresh. On the other hand, as he is someone not only new to OOTP but also to the sport of baseball, there might be some bad guesses in there too and some unintentional misinformation. But he's very honest about what he doesn't know and it could be fun to sort of learn the game along with him.

Of course, the manual, a very well constructed document, is another component that will expand your expertise. Have fun!

i have been watching the "Big Rich Machine" series. IMO, it gives a great base on how to build a team, what to do, what to look for, etc. That Alex guy is a whiz and really runs it all down.
My only issue with it so far, it a lot of it in the past couple videos I watched, is Alex telling Rich precise players out of the blue to trade for in a series of pre-assembled trades that rob other teams of many of their decent prospects. During the course of that, you do pick up on a lot of trading mechanics and he explains things pretty well, so it does have value. Instead of that part of it, I would rather see how/what an average person could look for or search for with little to no knowledge, as opposed to "go to the tigers', find 'jesus mercados', 'cant find him? ok, look in their AA roster.' 'now find a player named bruce myrhes, probably in AAA', etc. Im in video 4, and I have learned how to look at your roster and figure out some strengths and weaknesses (as well as possible paths by switching positions). I learned the general importance of financials and some basics in dealing with that, filling out your entire staff, trade mechanics, player ratings and what to look for. If you are looking for pretty targeted, and relatively short videos on each subject, I agree you should check Foolish Baseball's tutorials. Pretty well done; he has them listed there on his videos page; look for the green-background thumbnails / video pictures.
