My team is a disaster this year. It's been injury after injury. And I realized I sort of mismanaged my MLB Team and its Minor League affiliates.
I'm finally in September, so I've brought up 5 or 6 guys that will probably be starters next year when I blow this team up and rebuild. Unfortunately, when I would want someone to either play a new position, even if only a few games, I'm now in a situation where I have no idea who I've changed. Is there any way to default all players back to their original positions? I now realize that I could have temporarily moved players to the corresponding position I'd like them to play in the managing lineups or pitching rotation & bullpen roles. Then I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in now. Any ideas on how I can fix this mistake? This one is driving me out of my mind. Again, due to the nearing of season's end, I've been trying to play with different custom lineups. I usually only edit one lineup, but then copy & paste it from RHP+DH to LHP+DH or vice-versa. Things weren't happening the way I wanted, so I decided to turn on Commissioner Mode and I permanently changed the assignment of Setting Lineups & Depth Charts and Pitching Staff to me, removing it from the Team Manager's responsibility. I then click on "Finish Today!" and then click on my score to see the box score of today's game. The Custom Lineup that I set will not be the lineup that was used to play the game. I even tried adding a 6th man to my rotation, trying to eliminate any injuries from my regular 5 pitchers by having one more day off. Nope, Today's Game will not be using the 6th pitcher I slipped into the rotation even though he is listed as the Next Starter. Ugghhh...I learned of another bug that is plaguing me, only seconds ago. I thought I would be clever and bench my two slumping batters in their Strategy settings for 3 days. I figured that would definitely let me use my custom lineups. Nope. Both players I just tried benching for 3 days just played in Today's Game. HELP! Last edited by ALB123; 03-02-2020 at 05:52 PM. |

Have your bench coach suggest where they go

What are the fitness levels of your players? If you’re trying to start a player but he’s dog tired, guess what your manager is going to do?

If you look under fielding stats that will tell you where they usually play majors and minors.

My problem is, I'm not sure which players I've changed! It's not that bad figuring things out with the Active Roster players because I pretty much know without even having to check where their true position is. I have 6 minor league teams, however, and I used Action > Set Position on many players. More often than not, I did so to fill a hole in that team's Roster. You know, sometimes you promote 2 third basemen and now the promoting team is out of true 3rd baseman. I see that I have a utility infielder who's labeled as being a 2nd baseman but plays 3rd almost as good. I will change him using Set Position from 2nd to 3rd to make sure he isn't going to be put at second for any reason. I've done this several times with pitchers. For instance, switching an RP with decent stamina to an SP when I'm going to need an emergency starter on a farm team and it ends up being a 5-month gig.I hope that makes sense. I'm sure I've been doing so many things the wrong way with my 1st ever Saved Game (3rd Season). There are, in fact, quite a few things I would have done differently if starting over. Oh well, I'm learning... |

Game Manual
ALB123,
I don't know if you are aware, but there is a VERY useful manual that comes with the game that I suggest you read cover to cover, as it were (you will see that there is not a ton of reading). I am not in game at the moment but I believe that you can hit F1 to bring it up? You can also look it up outside of the game with google "ootp 20 manual" (or substitute whichever version you have if it is not 20). It sounds like you are new to the game and the manual has a wealth of information in it that will answer a lot of your questions, although more may pop up. That's ok though, just come back to the forums and get the answers. Hope this helps you as much as it helped me when I first started years ago. Have a good night! Palaaemon PS Once you upgrade to OOTP 21 or later editions you WILL need to read the manual for that edition also as many concepts change. Enough changes that it is worth it. Some people may argue differently, I am just giving you the information and suggestions, what you do with it is up to you!

IRL, I can forget things...really fast, sometimes. This is an issue I've been dealing with for several years now due to some serious health issues and the medications I have to take 4 times a day for the rest of my life. Well, if I want to stay alive, that is. Anywho, this was a very overwhelming game the first 2 or 3 days. There are so many settings that can be used or not used...sometimes I feel like I'm running in circles. I really appreciate all the help I've been given in these forums. Everybody has been so nice and kind. Oh yeah, I pre-ordered OOTP 21, only a few hours after it became available. You're right. It appears that there will be a lot of changes coming our way!
