Crashing, crashing and more crashing

Please help!

I, too am a victim of endless game crashes. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when or why the program shuts down. The only time that I know it crashes is when I try to play a game. It crashes as soon as I try to play. Otherwise, it crashes randomly, even if I'm not moving the mouse or anything. I get the message that "ootp5.exe is generating errors and will be shut down." I use the following:

Windows 2000 Professional 5.00.2195 Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ CPU
228,708kb RAM
nVidia nForce sound card
nVidia Geforce 2 video
Direct X 9.1a

Per other posts I've seen on the board, I've downloaded the most recent driver updates and the most recent version of directX.

Not to sound like a jerk, but I'm severely disappointed (and judging by the number of posts on this board, not alone) that this game is causing so many problems. I have been addicted to STB2003 for almost a year and couldn't wait to purchase this game. I hope that someone can get this fixed.

In all fairness, I'd say that there are VERY few problems of this nature and yes they are annoying but it is impossible to release a product w/o having some of these issues crop up as you can't test on every configuration. Mine is very similar to yours and I have not had the problem. Have you tried disabling the sound and see if that helps? I am having a problem with another game from a major developer and have gotten constant lockups so I finally turned off all sound and no lockups since....so I can relate.

I saw someone suggest that in another post. It was one of the first things that I tried. It still crashes. At first, I thought it was just a problem with the download. Having a regular phone line connection, I figured it missed something on the download. I purchased the CD as well, so I decided that I would just wait for the CD to arrive. I re-loaded the game from the CD, but I'm still having the crashing problem. I don't know what to do next.

Markus knows of these issues and we hope that the next patch will solve these problems. Hope to have it out in a week or so.
